Resale Value - Servicing Query

I don't know where you live, but we take the wifeys car to TGM Motorsport in Fleet.

They specialise in race-prepping (and racing) DC5s and the like however they were more than happy to service her 2001-reg 1.4 Civic. The last service was the cambelt and they did that for a third of the cost that the Stealership wanted us to pay!

Did you ring around other Honda Dealers in your area?
They are usually best to play off each other as you're comparing like with like.

Yes, i did... both the garage local to my parents house (Nottingham), and the one nearest my uni house (Stafford) ended up at £250inc and could go no lower

nobody has really answered my question of, is a FHondaSH better than a standard FSH? I'm assuming from people answers that if i spend £100 extra for this major service and £50 extra on the next basic service, i will not recoop £150 on the sale price?

Basically yes, over the life of the car you could spend an extra £1000 servicing it at a Honda dealership and you wouldn't get a better resale than had you serviced it elsewhere. Provided you've got a stamp then great.

As for an indy place, make sure you go by recommendation rather than the local free-ads :)

Bring it to my dad and it will be half of what the dealers charge and a proper mechanic looking after your car not some monkey with a spanner they call technicians :p

You'll get some retards who might be put off by non Honda history, but they're usually the tards paying 10k for a brand new punto so dont worry about them.

see my gf also has an 05 car and that was due a service recently. we took the choice to pay over a ton for an oil service as the car is very low mileage and low mileage buying newbs love that sort of thing. even though the car is devaluing fast, something like that in theory may help it sell easier.

thats what im hoping is the case with this... its not a complicated car, its not a massivly desirable car, but hopefully a full honda service history will be something that makes my car (when i do sell it) stand out from those around it in price

How long are you likely to keep the car?
