Do these annoy anyone else??

I am trying to re-wire my Lian-Li PC 60 back to my motherboard after fitting a new heatsink and fan. There seems to be no logic to which way they go in.

I fit one and the light will be permanently on, turn it round and its fine.

God they annoy me. Am I being utterly stupid or are there any hard and fast rules to connecting them?

RTFM. :)

It will tell you how to connect everything.

Unfortunately it doesn't. If it did, I wouldn't be posting on here

No case or motherboard manual I have ever had has shown which way round to connect speaker or reset wires etc. It has always been trial and error. They point out which prongs on the bank to hook up to but never tell you which one is positive or negative

the stupid thing about the lian li pc 60 wiring is that they thought they would be real smart and put them in clumps (which is great) but as far as i can tell they dont lable the sodding possitive pin and there is no indication as to which wire as they use white for both positive and negative. I did notice they had a triangle on them but i cant remember if i managed to actually tell if it was for possitive or not as the manual tells you all but what you need to know. I did work out that the usb writing faces into the mobo and the rest for the lights face away. that was just on my mobo though.

You should be able to download your mobo manual for their site.
The labeling on the connections, usually point outwards in my experience.

I have recently fitted three differenct mobo types (DFI/Asus/Gigabyte) in Lian Li and Akasa cases.

None of the manuals detailed what colour the ground wire is on the case connectors though. They explain where the headers are and gives their polarity, but it's more tha case wires that don't say which is which. I think this is what the OP is saying.

my asus board comes with a handy thing they call q-connector, like a master socket you plug the wires into this while it is outside the case, then just plug that into the motherboard. makes it dead easy.

Then why do i have a white wire which is never in the same place and yet they all work even though i ahve them all facing the right way. This must mean surely that the white wire is both possitive and negative?

It doesn't matter which way around the wire for the power and reset switch goes. If you have any of the LED wires the wrong way around, they will not work at all.

I've never had a problem with these...always just gone in right first time. USB is dead easy with Lian Li cases and a mobo with proper positioning as well.

Your not understanding what im saying.

My usb plug faces the oposit direction to the led ones and they will both only work in those ways.

Secondly the white wire is in different places on each of the little plugs which means surely its being used for possitive and negative, which just seems stupid to me.

This has nothing to do with the power or reset wires.

Ever system I’ve built has had the +ve marked with a triangle on the plastic connecter of the wires its then just a case of the MB manual to find out which pin is +ve on the board.
Not saying this is universally used but ive never had anything else.

OK but we're not talking about the USB plug in this topic (as per the topic title). If you turn around an LED wire that is currently working, it will not work. This means that the wires cannot be both positive and negative.

no, what im saying is they ahve used the white wire to mark both positive and negative on differnt plugs for the leds. Either taht or the possitive and nengative pins on the mobo keep switching around for each led.
