Resident Evil 0

I liked it.. Not as good as the others but still very enjoyable. I loved them all apart from the Outbreak games. I have actually got Outbreak File 2 on the PS2 that is still sealed...

REmake was the scariest in general by a long way, but RE2 had the scariest moment.

When playing through as the girl (after completing it with leon), there was this monster like nemesis that kept coming back. In one room (near the mirror room), I picked up an item, and he walked through the door! Thinking sneakily, I ran around him exited to the corridoor, which circled the room.

Just approaching the end of the corridoor, he jumped through the wall! Agh!

Never have I been so scared when playing a game as that moment. It was totally 'jump out of your skin' material, my heart felt it was going to explode. After taking him on, he fell to the floor, yet on leaving the corridoor there was an animation of him getting up and walking to the door.

The game promtly got turned off and has never been on since :D

That famous 'mirror room' jump was nothing on this beast smashing its way into the corridoor! Gives me the shivers just thinking about it.

They need to remake RE2 with RE4's mechanics. It would easily be one of the best games ever made. (Both RE2 and RE4 already deserve that accolade as it is)

I dont know about that i would say the Resident Evil remake is better than 2.

Then are you not effectively saying RE1 is better than RE2? The remake is still the same game, just with updated graphics.

it was more than just updated graphics, new gameplay elements were introduced and even the main baddy was new :D

[edit] i would have to agree that resi 2 had some of the most scary moments that belong to any form of entertainment. The above wall punching through bit messed me up a treat - instead of running round him i unloaded a shotgun shell into his nostrils, leading me to believe he was out of action for a while - obviously i was wrong. The scariest moment for me though was in the police station, a corridor with boarded up windows, you had been down there once before, on the second time through arms shot through the gaps and grabbed you. Utterly terrifying, a shock went up my whole body that felt like i had just had a switched on toaster inserted up my rear end.

You could stick grenades in the mouths of zombies in the Remake if I remember correctly. :D
Resi 4 I loved, the rest I couldn't stand tbfh. Thank god Dead rising came along for a representation of what zombie games should be!

Comparing RE to Dead Rising is not a fair comparison really. Dead Rising is not a patch on RE in terms of gameplay, longevety, story line, horror, mystery etc...

Dead Rising has nothing on Resident Evil, that's just Capcom's take on a comical perspective really. Remember they're both made by the same developer which really hints that they're deliberately on the opposing ends of the spectrum.

The old games would never work with RE4 style. A full rendered 3D game of 2 with static camera angles would be sweet though.

I'm comparing them to the zombie genre/mythology and where it all started with zombie movies, not the survival horror genre which Resi helped form(DR is closer to a sprawling beat em up I suppose). I had waited years to play a video game version of the movies I loved to watch and Resi came nowhere near that, hence my Dead Rising comment it is a far closer representation of zombies for me. Shoot a man for having a differing opinion.....

My main gripe with Resi was the controls were just tripe and totally spoiled the enjoyment of the game, add to that the fact I had played the original alone in the dark games on PC so Resi didn't have much of an impact on me.So resi 1-3 0 and CV not for me personally.

Resi 4 was fantastic I would totally agree there and surprise surprise the tweak of the controls lead to it feeling much smoother to play. Plus it had some nice open sections with large mobs of zombies and my favorite part, hiding out in a wooden shack with them pouring in through the windows and smashing down doors. The fast pacing of the action was superb.
As a result I cannot wait to play Resi 5 and hope they build on the last game instead of settling into a new groove.
