Have I blown it? Reached chapter 6-3 (the final one) with absolutely zero ammo remaining and no money (spent all on upgrades). Does this mean I'll have to abandon the game?

Can't you do previous chapters and build up ammo/money? I finished this games ages ago and I am sure you can do that...

Infact, it is a good idea to do some of the earlier chapters over and over where you can accumulate lots of money, very quickly.

Yeah, the spider boss is my fave for grinding ammo, chapter 5-4 or something like that. OR you can do runs through chapter 5-3 and get about 20k a run ;).

Protip for conserving ammo btw, only shoot people in the legs (around the knees) and run up and punch them, then stomp them when they fall over. If they don't die after that, knife them whilst they're on the ground.

Sod for this a lark. Restarting chapter 6-3 after having reached the volcano puts me right back at the beginning of the bridge level. Can't be arsed going through it all again. SHELF TIME!

Why shelf it? Half the fun of RE5 is multiple play throughs whilst unlocking an obscene arsenal. I could lend you some of it on the 360, but you're mostly a PS3 player iirc.

The way this game is designed is similar to the way a few other Capcom games work, you can easily play any chapter you wish to the grind the **** out of them for gold, ammo, weapons, herbs, jewels etc, and you can just press Start and Quit, and make sure you also press Yes to save the progress which then you get to keep all the items you accumulated on that run.

Unlucky with Chapter 6-3 though. If it was Professional difficulty then ouch! You could easily unlock Unlimited Ammo by speed running Amateur though.

I don't understand it though - what happens if I get to the volcano bit again after fighting from the beginning of 6-3 and any ammo I've accumulated from playing other chapters is exhausted again? It just seems like a never ending circle unless you play with the electric prod thing and save all your ammo constantly.

Well it depends on what game difficulty you are on and your shooting style i.e. are you just wasting bullets shooting thin air? I mean I can understand when you get to the Wesker fight where that really is the case. :p

What console are you playing this on? I'm sure some of us may be glad to help you along. I got the Gold Edition for PS3.

Thanks for the help offer. Going to play again but on PC now and instead of trying to upgrade three weapons on normal difficulty, going to start again on amateur and just upgrade the hand gun. Should have enough ammo to finish the game that way and get infinite ammo for another playthrough.

Addendum: It looks like selling the starting handgun was a fundamental error. Handgun ammo kept appearing in chapter 6 but I sold it on as had nothing to use it with. Whoops!

At least the controls and aiming will be much better and easier on the PC version that's for sure, especially for the turret run level and boss. Pain in the ass on the console versions.

Pity RE5 isn't like past horror titles where you really didn't need that much ammo, it's all Action titles now days :\.

You could get some cash from the treasure on Chapter 4-1 and quit and save inventory just before you fall down the trap rinse and repeat. Also you can get a free rocket launcher from the half submerged ship in Chapter 3-1. That will OHK the final boss when the script has played out to the showdown.

I think I upgraded the smaller S&W Magnum on my first run and let Sheva use the sniper rifle.

I found it uber frustrating at Veteran solo, but after watching some walkthroughs on how to stall Ndesu's attacks I did the entire Chapter in one go at Professional.

Yeah it's a good "cheat" on Chapter 3-1. You can farm as many Rocket Launchers as you want as long as you have the Inventory space to fill it up. Saves wasting gold buying it. Plus it will be useful for one hit killing all bosses (As long as you don't miss their weak spots) and to help save lots of time for speed runs to unlock it's unlimited ammo option.

Well last night I started again and did the first three chapters. Built up about 500 each of handgun ammo and machine gun ammo. Then I went for Wesker again in 6-3. I only did it by the skin of my teeth.

The battle on the ship used up all the rockets that were strewn around, the bugger kept dodging them. I just had to keep running round and shooting him with bullets. I think it was just blind luck that Sheva grabbed hold of him and I injected him with the virus as we were down to 40-odd HG bullets.

The volcano fight was easy enough just firing at him with the machine gun. Anyroad, game complete and I now have infinite ammo on the first magnum and just about to buy the Gatling gun and will attempt a speed run on easy to see if I can get the inifite ammo for the RPG. I never knew there was an RPG in a sunken ship - there seems to be so much yet to discover. I've only seen 3 BSAA emblems and have not got every treasure yet.
