Resident Evil 7 Benchmarks

What? I tend to skip over your posts if its more than two lines as its usually a waste of time but ok you have my attention, go on....

Well there was one part where I explained how certain individuals clearly don't read, so that's quite fitting...

Any time anyone corrects you, you do tend to go quiet. People like that aren't really worth engaging with.

You have my attention now, so again, go on....

I don't get why people even use an ignore list option, The person spouting rubbish one day could have a perfectly useful, reasonable explanation for something else the next, That's what I think anyway, Wouldn't you agree?

Well, would you?

Hello!!!

Hello???

Is anybody there :(

Chromatic aberration is a camera lens defect where all wavelengths of light can't be properly focused together, so not sure why this would need to be recreated!

Dof isn't a defect as such but is purely a camera related thing where the lens isn't stoped down enough but this can result in nice out of focus backgrounds etc. Given you tend to play a game through the eyes of a protagonist dof will never ever be relevant!

It will be relevant to many actually... Very important for the ePeen!

Many people will not want to play the game unless they can play it maxed out! lol. Even if it means making the game perform worse and look worse, as long as it is maxed out they feel happy inside, so it is important indeed sir! :p

Jokes aside, I am sure like shanky some may actually prefer these type settings for some reason, fair play to them, but my guess would be most people like to just see all switches ON for maxing out purposes.

There was one guy not so long ago (forgot his name) who was making a fuss about the Resident Evil 7 demo not working properly and the performance being trash. I mentioned that changing from HBAO to SSAO made a huge difference in fps for the demo. He would not consider it at all... Seemed he would rather not play the game than consider lowering a switch.

Each to their own I suppose. As long people are happy. But interesting behaviour to observe, I have my own quirks too so I am not judging, like not wanting to install Uplay, even for free old games :p:D

How can it be irrelevant if it gives a massive Performance improvement for some cards?

I think it's a rather silly not having two graphs really. One with SC On, and another with them Off.
That gives everyone the full picture on how their cards will perform in the game.

If I had an Hawaii based card there's no way in hell I'd run the game with SC Off. 390X drops from 140 FPS to 92 FPS if Shadow Cache is turned off.

It's irrelevant in that on or off there is no quantifiable difference to the end users experience with the exception of FPS, whatever gives the best performance should be used.

I think we may actually be arguing the same point. Two graphs or one graph with best results, I don't care.

haha and the funny thing is HBAO+ is really quite garbage for "accurate" ambient occlusion/shadowing.

It looks "nice/better" at first but... it is completely inaccurate, it creates shadows on everything when it shouldn't be, it is darker than it should be + sometimes, it can remove detail too.

1070 vs Fury X

Seems to favour each other, one section fury wins others 1070..
Excellent pc port
The funniest bit is in the posts, There's people raging about it being an AMD optimised titles and others blaming them for fixing the results. No doubt fuming to see a last gen card bringing it's A game to the competitions new range, Brilliant.

Was either side involved with development?

The game only has HBAO+ from Nvidia. Physics is Havok hence why it runs well I guess.
I tested the demo on my 390 today and am getting around 150fps maxed out @1080p and 95 fps@1440P. The shadow cache is apparently for caching static shadows according to the options text but doesn't seem to affect peroformance in the demo. Maybe the final version is different.

No doubt AMD would have been working with the devs they even had the release drivers out one week before games release.
Very nice too see tbh

Ah yes, I just tried it on my old 390X and wow it plays great. Hey that Shadow Fax is a wicked option for my 390X. It's as fast as a wizards horse now....

Shadow Fax....Shader Cache.....Shadow Cache

When it comes down to it and all you got left is being picky over the name...when, lets face it we all know we were still talking about the same thing...it kinda makes me feel that there is someone feeling butt hurt about the fact that their Pascal card got a stomping from a 390X.

Keep moving them goalposts when it suits why dontcha :p

To be honest, this game is the beginning of the new trend , where things are significantly will be changed. Vulkan was the pre-view.

P.S.: don't get me wrong. I like nvidia, i like my card but i see they just not doing good at all in DX 12/vulkan and new games.
