Resistance 3

I'm finding the SP really good. The levels, or chapters, are different so it keeps you interested and varies the action.

I tried the MP, but I couldn't get on with it. I'm somewhat glad I bought the stand edition.

I find the graphics very jaggy - like there's no AA - some levels are worse than others. Maybe this could be a side an effect of playing on a 40" screen?

Whats this game like? in terms of comparison to R1 or R2. I thought R2 was a piece of crap totally awful game, but I thought R1 rocked big time. Considering getting it but after R2 im not sure?

Its better than R2 so far (up to chapter 8) and more like RFOM but better, so far the SP is the best FPS ive played this year, the atmosphere is fantastic.

I actually found the AA to be pretty good on this, also using a 40" screen, samsung LEA656, I pretty much only play games on the ps3 these days though so not been getting used to super sharp PC shooters, so maybe my standards are low :P

Finished the campaign on hard this morning, so starting the Superhuman playthrough then will clean up any missing trophies using the chapter select after, Hard mode was certainly easier here than it was in FoM or R2.

Played, finished and enjoyed, gameplay felt much closer to R1 which is for the best and as a whole its definitely fun. Full campaign co-op is pretty awesome as well.

I like my shotgun, it sets people on fire.

I was just checking out this article on R3 demo from Digital Foundry.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-vs-resistance-3

No wonder my eyes are going funny - the resolution has been dropped right down to a shocking 960x704 with crappy quincunx anti-aliasing.

Odd. My TV likes to inform me of resolution changes - Samsung LE40D550 - and it states that the resolution the game runs in is 1280x768 I believe, might be slightly out. Not to say that that's correct though, it could be wrong.

I might have my picture settings different, I have been trying to play around with them, but I don't really know what's best. It seems that the PS3 shows up jaggy edges more than my 360.

EDIT

Looking at the Digital Foundry article it seems they have used the demo that came with Battle: Los Angeles as the performance analysis. Also, the article is dated July 30th, 2011. Maybe it was changed on release?

It'll be internally rendered at 960x704 by the PS3 and then upscaled to 1280x720 or whatever your display settings are (and then in my case it will be upscaled again by the TV to 1360x768) which results in a slight mess. :D

I don't have any complaints about the visual quality, the excellent lighting seems to cover any graphical limitations very well. The geometery inside chimera structures was very impressive.

played on a 42 screen and nothing popped out to me as jaggy or badly textured, but with sections like a 300ft tall goliath stomping towards you you don't often get the chance to stop and stare at things.

RFoM is more fun single player while R3 is more fun co-op, playing R3 through in SP keeps having the feeling of 'i think this area was designed for two people'.

Where as RFoM is a excellent SP game but the co-op feels a lit tacked on and not ideal for a game which is about 10 hours long.

Despite my tantrum earlier, I decided to keep going. I think the second half has got better. I love the mutator gun. :D

Took me a while to get used to the old-school health system, got so used to being nannied by the sissy auto health-regen in all current fps games that it was a bit of a shock to be punished for running at a stalker with magnum in hand like a kwik-fit-fitter expecting it to all work out ok after a minute hiding behind a car.

Yep, 1st 6 chapters felt so-so, couldnt agree more but later on, the game really does come alive. The scale of the gfx, the effects are very good. Overall, very impressed with game.

Havent tried MP yet, what are peoples' verdict on that side of things?

Still have Infamous 2, Deus EX (pc) and Resistance 3 to complete, along with Gears of War 3 arriving soon. Need to get a move on, stupid 9 to 5 job getting in the way :)

Have now fully upgraded all but two of the weapons, find the game is a little short to get the best use out of all the weapons, could do with another couple of hours so you can really get use to the quirks of some of them especially with the upgrade system changing some quite a bit.

I have just got to New York so think i am nearing the end.. Is it me or does the difficulty go from a 5/6 to about a 9 in New York? I am at the bit where you have to defend against the reinforcements where there is a little base with a force field door and there are about 3/4 waves that come from drop ships. It gets mental first there are drones with a load of troopers, then there are troopers with steelheads then there are troopers with the shield drones as well as a couple of the ravengers and not got past that yet.. Flipping Tough...

Oh and how come the enemies Auger seems to have a lot better range than mine? As in i will have an auger and not be able to spot an enemy using one but then all of a sudden the auger rounds will burn through the wall and get me.. :(
