Hey guys,

Are there any free 'windows based' apps out there that will allow me to play about with partitions in windows 2003?

Cheers,

SW.

Why does it *have* to be windows based?

I use GParted Live for all my partitioning needs!
I just thought it would be easier :D

I did download gparted; is it easy to use? Do I just make a boot disk up and go from there?

Yep, pretty much! Burn iso to disk, boot into GUI and resize away (back up anything important first, obviously. Chances of something going wrong are slim to none, but its safe practice!)

Yeah you burn the iso.

Its linux based so won't look like a windows disk :p

Boot from the cd and follow the prompts :) (from memory, just start with the default Auto options and select your keyboard lang etc and start the GUI)

Thanks mate, I'll give it a go ;)

Not having much joy atm with gparted; is it possible to consolidate two ntfs partitions in 2003? I've got a 60GB disk partitioned in 2 (20GB and 40GB) and I'd like to make it 'one drive' again :)

Yeah, I have done this a number of times - if one of the partitions is empty, delete it and extend the remaining partition over the resulting free space :)
