Im Building my new rig (c2d, e6750 2gb mem, 8800GTX), and was orginally gonna use my existing 19" tft-running at 1280*1024.
But now im considering whether to fork out for a 22" widescreen tft as well. Would i see much 'visual' differences going from 1280*1024 to 1680 x 1050.

Or am i wasting my money :D
Ta.

Don't consider it, just do it, that setup deserves a higher rez than 1280x1024, 1680 x 1050 will look plenty sweet and it will be in widescreen.

Maybe consider saving the extra for a 24" screen, that way you will get a resolution bump, but the 8800GTX would still be plenty quick enough.

im only considering a 22", due it to not costing much more. Really cant justify spending any more, especially on a 24"
just wanted to know, whether the difference was significant going from a 19" to a 22" with a gtx.

You may as well just get a 20" WS if you can't afford a 24". The resolution is the same from 20" to 22" but in the 20" WS range there are models like the Dell 2007WFP or NEC LCD20WGX2 which sport the awesome S-IPS panels.

I would certainly recommend buying a 24" to run at 1920 x 1200 as the ONLY thing limiting you from playing at that res would be your monitor and since your spending so much on your rig it would be silly no to.

The 22" wouldn't be much bigger in terms of height but i much prefer widescreen gaming/ movies compared to normal aspect now. You will DEFINATELY notice the improvement in your gaming resolutions. Your spending so much on a gfx card and your not going to get the most out of it running at 1680 x 1050. Wouldn't you like to run crysis/ utiii/ et:qw in future at those higher resolutions?

If your just going to be gaming at 1680 x 1050 you probably dont even need such a beefy gfx card (also depending on which games you play)

Even if your budget doesn't stretch that far right now, i think you should save the money dont buy the 22" and buy a 24" in future.

thanks for the advice guys, but i really cant justify the costs of a 24", the mrs would have my neck :D

my option really..is to stick with the 19" or fork out for a 22".

22" monitor is a perfect size for most people...

24" can/will cost you a fortune with trying to keep up with the lastest highend GPU cards to be able to run the lastest games at a playable FPS at it's high native res...

I went from a 17inch 1280x1024 screen to a hp w2207 widescreen 22" and its a marvellous difference. Whilst the resolution change at 1680x1050 isnt hugely dramatic it compensates nicely for the larger screen size though.

24 inch is simply too expensive, not only for the monitor but also the graphics card/cards to run every game at a 1900x1200 native res. Even a single Ultra will sturggle playing EVERY game at 1900x1200. So unless you have sli 8800's its not very viable option.

I would go for the 2007WFP then. It's only 20" but the panel in it is better in every respect. Better for gaming, better colour reproduction. :)
