Resolution on my LCD TV - Help Please. :)

Sandy Bridge is dual channel, its 4GB or 8GB but 8GB is overkill for gaming. 4GB is all that is needed for any game but metro 2033, which is **** anyway.

You might want to invest the extra £50 on a decent gaming keyboard and mouse.

With only a small increase, you cannot upgrade anything major.

Using that TV is very sensible. It may be a lower res that you'd like but it does make life easier on the GPU. HDMI from the GPU will also provide sound to the TV saving you buying speakers. (if the TV has an RGB or DVI port, using this will probably get better results but you'll need a cable for the audio or some speakers).

THe 6870 you've chosen isn't very good to be honest. Not reallly any better than the 5870. It's priced the same as some of the 6950 cards which would be a much better card for gaming. *EDIT* Just seen your spec and prices reaper. The card is cheaper but not by much, still worth the upgrade *EDIT*

You really need to decide now if you will ever use more than one gfx card. If you want these upgrade path it will add costs. You will need a higher rated PSU and also the mobo to support it properly (both PCI-E lanes in sync).

Good luck with the build. Any Qs or problems when you build you know where we are.

My monitor only supports HDMI or VGA. It doesn't have a DVI port. :( Does this mean that the picture quality will be rubbish? Also are the 6950 cards better than the 6870? Also If so how much extra will it cost. :(

As well as this with my current mobo I wouldn't be able to get 2 gfx cards? Is it worth getting 2 in the future? Now though if I spent more on the mobo etc that would leave me less for the other components. :(

Any help please. :)

HDMI is the highest quality picture you can get, don't have to worry about that.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/293?vs=290 The 6950 destroys the 6870.

Going Crossfire in the future might be a good idea if you are going to playing all the latest games. The motherboard you have stated does support Crossfire, so you could buy one now and buy another later if you find you aren't getting enough FPS. If you do buy another one though, you will need to buy a better PSU.

Surely he would put the computer to whatever the best the TV does, not try to make the TV do that resolution?
No....The image will not be clear or sharp if he runs his LCD at less then it default 1368x768 Resolution...

He may find it will only support the 1368x768 resolution through the VGA input and not through the HDMI input...
