Resolution Problem

Is that opening them in windows photo viewer? AFAIK, they don't open images in 1:1 actual size by default, you need to press Ctrl+Alt+0 to set it to actual size (or press the button at the bottom).

Personally I prefer testing this in google chrome, as there are no application borders at the side when in full screen mode and if the image is bigger than the display resolution it shows scroll bars (the windows photo viewer just zooms into the image and shows no scroll bars - so it can be difficult to tell if the image is bigger than the monitor resolution)

Yes i opened them using windows photo viewer and pressed the button at the bottom and it seemed like it went full screen but couldn't tell due to the programs layout covering some of the image.

So, do you think i'm using 1920 x 1080 or the other res like the websites say?

With the windows photo viewer it is really hard to tell one way or the other.

Instead I would test the same image using google chrome or firefox. If you need to scroll left and right when the image is actual size then that means that the horizontal resolution is less than 1920 pixels, and thus the resolution of your monitor is sub-1080p (most likely the 1536 X 864 resolution). However, if when actual size in the browser you can just fit the entire width of the 1920 pixel wide image onscreen then you are probably running at 1920x1080 as you should be.

I just tested this image with firefox, it needs you to zoom in with a single click to get it to actual size. Even then it shows a white border down the left side and you have to scroll right to fit the entire photo on-screen - but once you have done this it should be apparent whether your current horizontal resolution is 1920 or not.

In contrast, when using the browser google chrome with the same image it automatically opens it in actual size, with no scrolling required - hence using this browser it can be very simple to work out your actual resolution. If you want to test it out, here is a link (well worth a go IMHO).

It should be quite obvious if you're running at the native resolution of your monitor.

If the text on this forum page is nice and sharp then you almost certainly are.

If the text isn't sharp then you almost certainly aren't.
