Not sure if this should be in here ir somewhere like the graphics forum but here goes.

I've got 2 screens both lcd screens. ones got a rex of 1280x1024 and the others got a rez of 1360 x 768.

Now i'm using the 1360x768 screen to watch movies from my pc so i've got a vga switcher box connected to the pc which allows me to switch between the 2 screens.

What my problem is, is that if I start the PC up with the 1280x1024 screen selected on the switcher and then later on decide I want to watch a film so switch to the 1360x768 screen all i'm getting in the display options is the resolutions for the 1280x1024 display. The only way I can find to change this is to restart the pc again but with the other screen selected on the switcher from the start.

But then I run into the same problem when switching back to the other screen in that all the resolutions avaliable are for the 1360x676 display and therefore down't look right as ones a widescreen display and ones a normal one.

Anyone have any ideas about what I can do so I can switch between each screen without having to restart the pc each time ?

What gfx card are you using?
If it has 2 outputs, then use a seperate cable for each monitor (dual view), and set them up for their native resolutions in the control panel.

If there's only one output, and the monitors don't share the same resolutions, then you could try booting with the widescreen connected, and then try to create custom resolutions in the Control Panel to suit the 4:3 monitor.

the cards got two dvi connections but ones going to my dell, so its the seccond dvi connection that i'm using between 2 screens.

tried booting using the widescreen one , then switching to the 4:3 screen but it will only give me widescreen type rez and not the 1280x1024 i'm after.

i've had a look at powerstrip but can't get it to force the 1280x1024 rez for some reason.
