Need to test my replacement unit , does not seem as smooth as original one.
I seem to get more stuttering with this one.

you cant use software to test the reponse time of a monitor i thought, seeing as the computer just outputs a signal to it, it cant detect what that signal is being translated to on the screen.

Blurring/ghosting is a completely different thing from stuttering, response time will never make movements seem stuttery or jerky, but anyway, as said above the programs that supposedly test response time do a really poor job IMO.

However if you are saying you used the same program on your old screen and would like to run it on your new screen for a comparison, then I suppose that's a fair enough test. This might not be the program you are after but here's the link anyway-

Delay when ESC was hit: 100ms; 10.000000Hz
Is this normal
What do you do to test ??
or is that it , should be 8ms i think i got 13ms

AMD FX.57
WIN 98SE
ABIT AV8 THIRD EYE
LOADS OF GOOD RAM

SORRY TO BE RUDE BUT I HAVE TO GO OUT NOW ,TALK LATER.
CHEERS.

Use the cursors. Left/Right adjust by 1 ms, Up/Down adjusts by 10ms. I think you're supposed to get the two squares to look the same.

Those system specs are incomplete without the video card. Also what exactly is stuttering? (ie which games/applications)

Also what screen do you have?

And as said above, screens don't stutter, PCs stutter. If you've got stutter it's nothing to do with the screen.

that test will only give a very crude indication of a black > white transition response time. I'd fully expect nearly all modern TN Film panels to be around the 10-12ms mark with that test, regardless of their supposed rating on paper (12ms, 8ms, 5ms etc). Obviously it wont give any indication of G2G transitions where the real improvement has been made in recent times

well i cnn get the squares to match each other at 24ms
it does not matter what my specs are as i said it seemed smoother running before i had my monitor replaced.
and the rest of my system is the same.
this effect occurs in car racing games only.

There's no such thing as a monitor problem which only happens in racing games :)

There will be some other explanation, like v-sync, refresh rate, resolution etc. You might think nothing has changed in your system, but windows will still see that screen as a different screen from your old one even though it's the same model. You said stuttering, and a poor response time does not cause stuttering. My 2nd screen here is 25 ms and it does not stutter - it blurs. If you didn't mean stuttering then could you describe the problem better maybe? We're not going to be able to help you without a better description of the problem.

You still haven't said what monitor it is, or which games the problem happens with (I'm guessing GPL is one). If you tell us which monitor it is, we might be able to tell you whether there was several different versions of it made with different speed panels.

I do not need any more details or help with this problem thankyou.
I only asked for this responce program so i could test it myself
And yes i was talking about motion blur ghosting.
I know all there is to know about my monitor and the 8 12 16 20ms range for thr XEROX XA7 191i.
Thankyou.
Unless you can tell me what serial numbers relate to which MS version.

Could have saved us all a lot of time by saying ghosting in the first place, stuttering is something quite different.

I shall try and explain the problem in more detail.
In a very fast moving game like grand prix legends were the cars are doing 200 mph.
sometimes not all of the tjme the monitor can not keep up with refreashing the image.
When i am playing the game the image is 99% smooth with constant 36 FPS. which is the max for this game THIS IS OK.
But when i come to watch the replay of the race then you notice this bluring, ghosting. lsg at times
This is not caused by a drop in frame rate as on previous slower systems i have had
and the only other thing i have had changed is the monitor replaced by a company in ENGLAND that does the warranty work for them.
Since this replacement monitor arrived i have noticed this prblem more
This monitor is said to a 8ms as my original one but the serial numbers on the back do correspond with any XEROX numbers.
I have been in touch with CHINA OR TIWAN and asked them to verify these serial numbers and tell me what ms version it is.but they say these serial numbers are not on there database and can not help me.
I have also been back in touch with the people that replaced my monitor which i think is something to do with PROVIEW and all they do is fob me off.
And that is were i am as today.

If you're getting this problem across the board in all racing games (in fact in all games with fast motion) then I'd say it definitely sounds like they've sent you a slower replacement and you shouldn't accept it. I'm sure you've already told them, but make sure they know it's not acceptable to give you a replacement with worse performance.

A slower screen should also show up in other games. On my 2nd screen which is 25 ms screen I can easily see the ghosting in Prey, HL2, UT2004 etc. I also owned a 16 ms and an 8 ms screen, and again I could see the ghosting in some shooters, especially HL2.

I ran a GPL online league for 5 season btw, best racing sim ever
