Hi all. Well on jan 10th its my birthday and looking to buy a new monitor for my new PC what I got from here about 2 month ago.

I am considering one of these 2.

Asus Rog Swift 165hz

Dell 144hz
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/dell...reen-led-monitor-midnight-grey-mo-084-de.html

The dell has a response time of 1ms Response Time 144hz and the Asus has 4ms Response Time and 165hz.

Is there a lot of difference in 1ms and 4ms Response Time and does 165hz use a lot more power for gaming then 144hz?.

Thanks.

The Dell has TN which is worse colours but more responsive, I have the Acer which is IPS and awhile I will have slightly more motion blur compared to the Dell I think it is worth it.

144hz vs 165hz isn't really worth it and it is also much more money, enough to make you start thinking about maybe getting 21:9.

IPS at 165hz is kinda pointless, it's not fast enough, plus when fps drops it gets even blurrier on motion, i've owned that Asus IPS. A quality TN is always better for gaming. ULMB on that IPS is also full of motion nasties. Have you considered the TN Asus 165hz, PG278QR. It has the best motion without overshoot you can get, great gamma and colours. The only negative thing is the screen has a slightly rough matte coating, whereas the new revisions of that Dell are much clearer, although the Dell has overshoot and awful out of the box gamma you can't change(nvidia CP gamma will help though).
On a TN, 165hz is better than 144hz if you can achieve that fps but you'll need a titan x pascal and a modern i7 cpu or lower the settings for other gpu's. I would avoid IPS for high hz altogether, a quality modern TN with the right OSD options to tune will match it image wise sat dead on and they have no horrid IPS glow and are much less prone to cloudy backlights.
That's my opinion anyway from owning and testing loads of monitors of both types across many resolutions.

The Dells panel is 8bit so while it still lacks behind IPS on colour reproduction and has worse viewing angles, it looks pretty good and far better than the average TN monitor. 144Hz vs 165Hz is a bit of a gimmick really and is not really worth enabling.

IPS is a little slower than TN. You get a bit more motion clarity on the Dell but it's likely you wouldn't notice additional blur on the IPS monitor, especially if this is your 1st 144Hz since both will look crystal clear.

The prices on Overclockers is pretty different. The Dell is about £254 cheaper and the main difference is that it just uses a TN panel instead of IPS. At them prices, I would grab the Dell without hesitation.

I think this sums it up.

Hi at the moment I have a asus vg27he which is 144hz but only 1080p. I want a native 1440p so dont have to use DSR. The price seems abit too much especially when a review says that they got it for £429. Might send oc a Email if they can do a deal. Like I said already got my self a new PC from these guys too. I just worried about it looking pixelated like on my vg27he monitor. Wish I could rent it first.

At least one reviewer put Visuals look fantastic, blacks look decent too on a TN panel. But I don't no how decent as that the problem with this monitor blacks and whites are a mess.

I have the Dell and previously had one of the Asus ROG Swift monitors - which I RMA'd twice before ditching it for the Dell equivalent (and have some experience of the model in question as well) - aside from the Dell having less options for stand adjustment and the Asus OSD being better to work with the Dell ***** on the Asus panels in all other regards, better build quality, mostly better designed, has what seems like decent cables in the box versus the ones that come with the Asus which seem like barrel scrapers quality wise, etc. the Dell is just all around the better monitor.

Obviously there is the IPS v TN argument but that is another matter.

In what respect? I don't have a console personally but can probably borrow from my brother if there is anything specific.

Resolution. will it just down scale to 1080p?. Thanks.

Sure the dell is selling like hot cakes only 2 left sure there where 10+ last week. or is it because I'm talking about it. hehe

That dell sold out now. I really don't think that many people bought it in that time to be honest.

But decided and getting it when back in stock. Hope they lower it to £429 min hehe hint hint. It is my birthday on jan 10th ocuk.
