Hi,

Does any one know the rough costs involved to fully repray a 2002 Corsa in Black? Im going to be getting one cheap through a family member as a temporary car. Its a horrible green at the moment. I've been looking on autotrader and the black Corsas seem to sell for a couple of hundred more. So if the respray is also under £400 then it may be worth it.

Thanks

If you can find somewhere to do a full colour change respray for less than £400 then expect the results to be average at the VERY best. A good full respray in the same colour will cost £1k upwards, so to change colour your talking big bucks. As already said above, it will also decrease the value of the car as people will be put off and left wondering whats being hidden under the fresh respray.

At least 1k, or put it this way, sell it and buy one in the colour you want or even better change the car totally!

Why, what's wrong with a 2002 Corsa?

I enquired about a colour change to my own car about a year and a half ago, and the quote was well over 10 times that amount.

It basically involved stripping the car down, including engine out.

What's right with it?:p

Nice little cars, ideal for town driving, good residuals - CD players, aircon etc. Nice looking.

Just because it isn't a VTEC yo or a turbo / SC and wont handle like a gokart doesn't mean it's a "bad car".

Ok;)
Have you driven one?

Yeah, driven my mate's SXI - it was alright, certainly not as bad as some cars i've had the pleasure of driving (Renault 5 Campus springs to mind!).

But it most definately isnt the best, and for the money to buy one there is a hell of a lot of other cars that could be bought which are better than the corsa.

Are you seriously asking that question?

The dash and ergonomics are a joke the quality of the fixtures is very poor, they don't drive very well and have all the charm and charisma of jade goody.

LOL spot on:p

Anyywaayyyyy tbh if you get a quote for £400 full respray it will most likely be a rubbish job, my father quoted a guy £2000 for a complete respray on a classic car from black to white and it took him AGGEESS and it ended up being £3000. I really dont think it is worth doing on a Corsa tbh. I didnt even think it was worth it on this car that my dad was doing! :)

I am yes.

It seems that every time somebody posts up mentioning their car, a whole load of people jump on the "If it's not a modeo, focus, mx5 or BMW it's crap" bandwagon.

You can guarantee every time there is a new thread about "look at my new car" if it isn't one of the above then it will get slated. "Waste of money", "Coulda got this or that" etc.

It just bugs me because there's always something better - perhaps he doesn't want a new car? Perhaps he absolutely loves his little corsa and doesn't want some forum noddy telling him what he should and shouldn't get.

I just wish people would stick on topic on here instead of flexing their finger muscles and being the forum know-all.

Wow someone needed to get a rant or two out!

He asked how much it would cost to respray a corsa, i said over 1k, would you spend over 1k respraying a car thats only worth 3 - 4k in the first place?

Furthermore, if he is thinking of doing this or going out and buying one in the colour he likes why not buy a better car instead of getting the same thing, simple really.

Oh and for the reccord some cars are market leaders for a reason, thats cause they are BEST at what they do, the simple fact is the corsa isn't the best in the group and for the same money you can get the best in the group, i DIDN'T slate his car until someone asked me why, i simply said 'even better change the car totally!'

Even tink who is a corsa owner hates them, just look at the number on these boards who have owned one and have hated it or have purchased one against some of us saying don't who later have turned around and have had enough of the car or want to change within 6 months.

But still my point stands.

That's all he wanted to know, not how crap his car was or how his money would be better spent buying a different car. But I suppose you should be commended for going beyond the call of duty and enlightening him, shouldn't you.

TBH it gets slated because it is rubbish (I should know I own one), and If I could go back in time and ask for a different car to have as a first car I wouldnt say a corsa! It is a pain in the behind, rubbish to drive (if your driving it everyday), interior just looks like plastic rubbish with many other things that arent good about it. The only thing I can think of that is good about it is that it gets me from A to B (or near it:p) and it isnt the ugliest car in the world, and it was free for me anyway:p If I had to pay for the repairs it would have been gone months ago:p

That's not the issue - I'm not saying "Don't slate other people's cars", if a certain model is crap then obviously the opinion should be voiced, but in the right place, such as a new thread.

It would be like sitting in the houses of parliament and in the middle of the prime ministers speech about helping children in botswana shouting "YOUR WAR IN IRAQ IS UNJUSTIFIED, YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE 'THIS' or 'THAT'".

Keep it on topic.

Ironic post ++

As has already been said, you will be looking >£1,000 for a decent quality respray, and thats before re-doing things like the engine bay and inside all doors etc etc (and if you don't get those done, it will look crap to any perspective buyer).

Don't waste your money respraying it, just drive it as-is if you do end up with the corsa.

Sorry I lolled

You could say this about so many cars! Although bland is probably the worst criticism, this word also applied to various VW, Ford, Seat and so on cars.

Vauxhall Corsa vs Seat Ibiza vs Lupo Vs Fiesta in basic spec is like picking the sweetcorn out of someone else's pavement pizza because you missed breakfast!
