Restarting a server... not as simple as it sounds

I love ILO - seriously (although "high performance mouse" issues on the old versions could cause violence)

Im using ILO all the time at work, and i havnt come across that one yet.

Back to the topic:
I'd force a restart of the server, see if that brings up enough of it for you to get on it and see what went wrong.
Failing that, safe mode.
 
FYI if you're already connected to the server at the login screen via VNC (i.e. can see the login screen GUI), this suggests the VNC server was loaded fine / is capturing updates fine, meaning that the error about resources when you attempt to logon is related to the Windows system itself, not VNC.

Yes, I stated this :)

RDP etc... hadn't come up. I didn't for one minute think it was a VNC issue.

Restarted it manually and she's all fine again.
