Retail display Law - Boxed item different to display.

So basically you're not really that interested in the refund (which they will gladly give you), you'd prefer a TV/DVD combo for £50 less that it should be?

Yes indeed he did mea culpa.

If you're going to use the SoGA on them, which I doubt you can, but let's continue, I believe your entitlement is to a refund (or like for like replacement, maybe). They don't have any obligation to exchange with a different product, nor to offer that exchange at a particular price. A price on a shelf is an invitation to treat and nothing more. Providing they don't deliberately mislead (which they didn't - it was a mistake and they've since corrected it) they have no obligation to sell to you at that price - or at any price.

So, unless you know a particularly good lawyer who can prove that a mistake was a deliberate act, you options are:

  • Keep it.
  • Return it for a refund and pocket the cash.
  • Return it for a refund and buy the product you wanted at its correct price.
