11%, so pretty much any 680 & most 670's will make that up quite easily.

Would like to see some clock for clock benches to see the real picture.

The GTX 770 is a GTX 680 so clock for clock will be the same.. Straight up rebrand for the whole generation except the GTX 780, which is a cut down Titan. So I guess really the entire 7 series really is just rebrands..

Oh well, Maxwell will bring new architecture and improved 'clock for clock'..

That is close to what was being touted from the experts earlier. I would like to see some overclocking results and then the UK prices. That 11% should put it faster than the 7970GE anyways, so hopefully AMD will pay attention after Roy claimed the war is back on :)

It won't be faster than 7970GE, it will simply trade blows more often than GTX680 does. 7970GE is around 10% faster than stock GTX680 so 770 and 7970 GE will trade blows. If they release it at GTX680 prices then the status quo does not change, especially if GTX780 ends up at close to £600.

I don't care either way to be honest but I thought I would do a round up of a few AAA titles and see what was fastest out of a 7970GE and a 680 and not surprising, the 7970GE was faster in 11 of the 18 games tested. After I broke it down to % per game, it looked like this:

  • Alan Wake faster on the 7970GE by 1%
  • Batman Arkham City faster on the 7970GE by 2%
  • BF3 faster on the 7970GE by 5%
  • Crysis faster on the 7970GE by 9%
  • Crysis 2 faster on the 7970GE by 3%
  • FarCry3 faster on the 7970GE by 11%
  • F1 2012 faster on the 7970GE by 4%
  • Hitman Absolution faster on the 7970GE by 21%
  • Max Payne 3 faster on the 7970GE by 4%
  • Metro 2033 faster on the 7970GE by 25%
  • Sleeping dogs faster on the 7970GE by 23%
  • Assasins creed 3 faster on the 680 by 12%
  • Borderlands 2 faster on the 680 by 6%
  • Black Ops 2 faster on the 680 by 5%
  • Diablo 3 faster on the 680 by 11%
  • StarCraft 2 faster on the 680 by 24%
  • Skyrim faster on the 680 by 4%
  • World of Warcraft faster on the 680 by 4%
I only used the 1920x1200 results.

As you can see, with the 11% (if true) extra speed of the 770 over the 680, the 7970GE will win in 3 of the games (Hitman - Metro 2033 - Sleeping dogs) and the 770 will win the rest ohhh and they will tie in FarCry 3.

The 7970 is holding its own though and I take nothing away from a card that is now over 16 months old.
 
I'm happy with my KFA2 660 OC, managed to play Crysis 3 on Very High with no AA and Metro 2033 on max with no AA, so i reckon i can afford to miss this lot.
 
Hmm if the overall picture is true for GTX 700 series then it's something like this:

GTX 780 - 20% faster than GTX 680
GTX 770 - 20% faster than GTX 670
GTX 760Ti -20% faster than GTX 660Ti

Wouldn't that be the overall picture ?

If that's the case then maybe, just maybe and upgrade from GTX 670 to GTX 780 if we estimate around 35% performance boost would be noticeable ?

Even so a 35% increase in performance for 100% increase in price isn't worth it.

I generally don't upgrade GPU unless the difference is at or approaching double. It just feels like a total waste of time and money to me.
Unless there's a very different reason for switching, but I can't think of an example at the mo, apart from having a case of upgradeitis :p

In the end it all comes down to money, even if the 780 is only 400 quid the performance gains still aren't really worth the money if you're coming from a 6 series. Only you can decide if you want to buy it or not.
 
That's pretty disappointing, its less than the performance increase we got from AMD's 12.10 vs 12.11 drivers..... ha.....
