Pensions are such a hot potato right now. It seems to be those that have, or could potentially have had, are grabbing on to as much as they can while it's still around.
Every man for himself.
Working ALL of your life until 68 (at the moment) Then a few years later you die. At that age you cant do half of the stuff you want to do anyway. Its so stupid.
That's why you have to live life in there here and the now. Take every day as its your last because some people spend all there lives paying off dept then they end up dieing at 60... what a waste in my opinion.
My final salaryy pension was moved to money purchase losing me around £6k a year, add that to the older state pension ages and it looks like mid 60s for me
My old man retired at 53 (managed to get his full unreduced final salary pension) after 20 months at home he could not take it any longer and is back at work again (contracting from the same company).
The real question if they keep hiking the retirement age, will I actually reach the age to retire or die before it?
I wonder how many people will leave work early and claim benefits due to there age, its kinda making my final salary pension look good.
I had a final salary pension, which ended (much like Rotty's I suspect) and was worth next to nothing after working for the same company for 8 years...
I'm now on a decent contributory pension (2.5% + 5%) and looking to retire at 50. I probably won't though, I enjoy working too much.
