Retro Jap Barn Find

"some of these cars are 1 owner and with low miles low as 6,000 miles one of the 80's celica has only been on the road for 10 years since it was launched and then parked up in 1990 having only done 6000 miles... :D

The old chap bought a new celica from his local toyota back in 1970's, The car was so reliable that he fell in love with the celica.

After that he had a great passion for the 70's celicas RA28 TA22 and the TA23 models and started his collection.

After a few years he had build up a very rare collection which includes GT's, ST's, coupes and liftbacks..

One day he paid a visit to his local car auction where he didnt have a clue what model the Galant was but loved the styling of the body being a direct copy of the RA28 celica which made him purchase the GTO. (Only a few registerd on the roads of UK) one been in the retro rides club. ;)

The old chap was driving them upto 1990 :)"

seen one barn like this in a certain area had a few rare fords in few very early minis and landrovers but wouldnt sell one :( said they were cars his family owned and were staying there till they rotted :p

quite a lot of farms big places have things like this getting access and finding out is the real work though.

great find and to get to buy em all even better :)

One has to hope he SORN'd all of those, otherwise he might be in for some nice bills before the restoration starts :D

SORN doesn't apply to cars that have been untaxed since 31 January 1998, so not going to have many problems there :p

Even if they weren't, you'd most likely recieve little grief from the DVLA - providing the new keeper SORNs them as soon as possible. You're not the registered keeper for that period, so it's not your problem. The DVLA understand this, although initially you'd probably get a letter asking why there was a gap in the SORN. One short letter would explain it all away.

Probably going to sound a bit thick, but whats the big deal? some crappy old datsuns found in a garage, not like they are ferrari's?

What kind of money would each be worth once restored? 2-3k

Might not be your thing, but some of these look to be seriously rare. Try finding one for sale...

The Colt Galant GTO (Mitsubishi) is rare as rocking horse manure really, sub 1000kg 2litre 125 hp RWD, it was the Evo of its day.

The cars came to the UK at the time of the Cortina and Marina and they were superb by comparison, but many were lost to tinworm, so they have become increasingly rare.

Most of the cars were able to run effectively on low octane 2 star fuel, which was cheap "bike" fuel back in those days.

So about 10k each once restored, cant see them linked above being taken at asking though. I do like older cards, like the CRX Vtec, Pulsars, Toyota Twinnies etc but these look like grandads cars plus there only toyota's. Probably before my time though.

Toyota made the Colt Galant GTO?

News to me...

They're clearly not all Toyotas eh?

Yeah before your time, but many want this kind of older car as they will only ever increase in value now.

That "only a Toyota" seems to be quite valuable! And may I say ****ing gorgeous!

Whats wrong with a Toyota? Judge the car on its merit not on the badge, why would anyone pay a premium for a badge if the car is *****.

Gorgeous cars those.

Put it this way, there are people out there that would think you're odd for liking the CRX Vtec, Pulsars, Toyota Twinnies etc.
