Retrospectively adding service history?

I've been to a dealers today and found a nice Focus for my wife. It's a 54 plate but crucially does not have the service book filled in. The dealer has contacted the previous dealer who has confirmed that it has been serviced twice as it should have been for its mileage. He is now saying that they can update the service book with this information.

Is this legit and will it look legit to prospective buyers when I come to sell?

Thanks for the advice.

the kind of people who buy focus's dont usually check up on service history (aslong as theres stamps) so i'd just go for it tbh

Don't see it being a problem if its a dealer stamp. After all if you lost the service manual you'd have to buy a new one and get everything filled in again.

I had this done with my wifes Civic, came with no service book so the garage contacted the purchase garage who confirmed that it had been serviced there regularly and just issued a replacement service book.

also had this done with my Laguna as the sh book was lost, got a new one through with proper dealer stamps etc. I already had the receipts for the services just not the proper book
Some people look for this others dont bother, i must admit i do like a car with a wad of service history with it :)

They should be able to issue some sort of paperwork/receipt to confirm it's been done, just keep it with the service book to keep record of it.

For the milage, but not for the age so even if the service book is replaced, it does't have fsh, which in answer to your question probably will affect resale values slightly. Unless I'm wrong and the Focus has a 2 year interval, although I don't think it does.

Not sure what "fsh" is? It's had services at 10.5k and 19.4k miles and has about 27k miles on it in total.

So general feel is could affect resale slightly but it's probable that the dealer can at least put 'back in' the services it has had? That sounds good enough for me.

Thanks for the help.

Fsh is an acronym that is commonly used when selling cars. It stands for full service history, basically meaning you have a stamped up book saying the car has been serviced when it should.

Service intervals have a mileage and a time period (eg 12k or 1 year). You are supposed to do which ever comes first, so if a year goes by and a car has only done 1000 miles since its last service, you are still supposed to service it, hence my point that it is missing a service or two. With the mileage in question, I would say it would have a very minor affect on resale value, but defiantly get the book done and its a point you can bring up when you are haggling for what you pay for it.
