Some Wonderful Chappie has written a patch for RTCW to allow all the popular widescreen Monitor resolutions + Anisotropic filtering setting in the Game menus

Get it here ...

For Years I have tried various workarounds unsuccessfully :D

Damm, I'm just going to have to play through whole Game again :D:D

(only works in single player and I tested it with Steam install and normal install, win 7 and XP )
Also supposed to fix some of the openGL problems some of the Later GFX card drivers have

I'd like to say a big thanks to this Person as this is one of the greatest Games ever IMHO

Surprised there has not been a little more interest on this, Maybe most of the Younger gamers have not had the pleasure of playing it ?

At the time it was the modernising of Wolfenstein 3D, and was all manner of epicness. Very very pretty for its time too, ran off the Quake3 engine.

You sure You don't mean "Wolfenstein" 2009 release on id Tech 4 (doom 3) engine ?......That was an insult to the great game !

Using the a modified Quake III engine, RTCW was way ahead of itself is still my favourite game of all time - Always a pleasure to play and the only game I've played more than twice :)

You My friend are dead right :D

I feel sorry for all the New gamers who have never played real shooters like this and Half Life, I suspect they will be a little hard for the modern "regenerating health" Fans and they won't be finishing them in 6 hours :D

i remember trying to play this on a crummy pentium chip lol like 2fps hilarious .... never really got into it though but I remember at the time this was a massive game.

Huh?! I love all three games! You honestly think Wolfenstein 2009 was THAT bad?? Did we even play the same game?! And it certainly didn't play like a bad port... no "Press X" messages, poor performance or dodgy non-customizable controls.

Sure it was missing the ability to smash open doors with your boot but all in all I thought it was a good looking enjoyable romp!

Come on, someone else back me up here :p

But I'll definitely be playing RTCW again with this widescreen fix! I haven't played it since I completed it all those years ago...

Ok I see the slight confusion here ;)

Return to Castle Wolfenstein for Pc (2001) is what we are talking about here.

this was a "revival"of a dos game called wolfenstein 3d....technically

Wolfenstein (2009) was a "revival" of return to castle wolfenstein.. it was a crappy console port

LOL

I think it was only Me that was confused with people saying "revival" :D

I'll back You up... The game was good but compared to RTCW it was poor. single player and Multiplayer and that was what it was judged against

Massive fan of RTCW, cant believe its almost ten years since I originaly played it.

Is the steam version of RTCW Windows 7 compatible and is Wolfenstein '09 worth a punt? Something about it looks off and a bit tacky to me.
