Return to Castle Wolefinstein Widescreen Fix

Massive fan of RTCW, cant believe its almost ten years since I originaly played it.

Is the steam version of RTCW Windows 7 compatible a.

Yes, More importantly it's supposed to fix the later ATI driver problems with OpenGL games....I have not tested that as I dumped ATI mainly for that reason.

Yeah thats what puts me off, looks really tacky and OTT, consolised if you will.

RTCW felt like Where Eagles Dare meets Indianna Jones, it doesn't get more epic than that!

When I was at college I made a documentary about a local man's war experience as a Commando (Michael Burn who met Hitler before the war and was a POW at Colditz) and I used the opening theme from RTCW in the main title sequence :D Epic score for an epic game!

*leans over and opens a drawer*

aha... deus ex ... forgot I had that ;)

*tries a different drawer*

aha... dungeon keeper ... forgot I had that ;)
aha... RTCW :D

now if only I could find my CD drive :p

Might have to try all 3 of those!

I tried this just now :D

A fantastic game from a better time. I've died a good 4 or 5 times over the last 30 mins, its almost as though the AI are not retarded :D

It's also very weird having 2 or 3 different paths to follow and no arrow pointing to the correct one. It's almost as though you have to figure things out.

This was the first fps I'd ever played on pc (my brothers) and then went out a got me a pc and have never looked back, fond memories of this.

Real Game, I hope You playing in the hardest setting :D "i'm death Incarnate " or suchlike ;)

Is this the game from about 8 years ago where one of the MP levels was you started on the beach and had to breach the walls of a castle type structure?

If so, this is an epic game. If not, I dont know what game im talking about

Using the a modified Quake III engine, RTCW was way ahead of itself is still my favourite game of all time - Always a pleasure to play and the only game I've played more than twice :)

Yep, totally agree... this was my first AAA FPS title after getting my first gaming PC, and I loved it to bits... played through it five times at least, and nothing has come close to it since for me, even though technically there has been better games.

I'm currently playing Wolfenstein 2009, and though I'm enjoying it to some degree, it falls way short of the 2001 game.

I will dig it out and try the widescreen fix... :)

One of my favourite FPS, got to love Enemy Territory as well though for pure online fun! Shame not many other FPS have flamethrowers, love it!

Saw this in my drawer a few days ago, very tempted to get it up and running again.

Just found out Wolfenstein (2009) was released, (yea i know 3 years late but I was traveling the world).

Is the game as bad as people make it out to be? or is it worth go? Whats the story/atmosphere and gameplay like compared to Return to Castle Wolfenstein
