Returning a graphics card

I had this problem with a company about 7 years ago with a AV amplifier. In the end I filled a small claims. They then dragged it on by 1, saying the address I used wasn't the business address (fair enough) and then secondly by somehow managing to change the court to their local one which of course would have made it impossible for me to show up.

Luckily they knew they didn't have a leg to stand on and then sent me a cheque and a letter saying they would like to settle. The amp cost me £300. After all the legal fees etc I asked for over £500. This took over 9 months though. In fact I think I was hospitalised for a month a half and when I got home I was surprised that I had no mail from them lol.

So after all that, being persistent was worth it! Thanks for all your help guys!

I am of course glad you have won in the end... however this company lost nothing by trying to fob you off and many people would have given up or paid a fee.

Sadly our toothless consumer law doesn't mystery shop companies and put hefty fines on them if they're not following the rules. The way the system is it virtually encourages companies who don't care about anything other than customers buying from them because they are cheapest to cut corners and refuse to honour people's legal rights.
