Has anybody on here had any experience returning an item to Amazon that they have opened and used?

I've looked up their returns policy and they are happy to refund anything unopened for up to 30 days. Fine and dandy, except I've opened my product and used it, only to find it's completely crap and I'm not happy with it. Will they still take it back?

Here's their returns policy: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=901888

It's not an item that isn't covered.

Never had trouble doing so (actually, mine was a book, which was unwanted after all), but in your case, depends what it is obviously.

Was it purchased new?
Is it under 14 days?
You can return it under the DSR if the above answers are yes. The unopened and unuesd part is poppycock.

I'm sure when I returned a camera to them last year there was a part of their explanations which implied an item was of insufficient quality or something.

Try the process out and see what else is said. :)

As far as I know they are under no obligation to refund used unwanted goods, it is entirely at their discretion.

I've had no issues returning opened and used items that I've found to be faulty. In fact their returns process is one of the best - other e-tailers should take note.

However I've never returned anything that for any other reason. Contact Amazon support and explain the situation they've responded to my queries within an hour on a Sunday morning.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Amazon. It'd be worth contacting them and explaining the issue you have with whatever product you bought, they'll advise you on your options and they've always made an effort to keep me in their "satisfied customer" bracket.

Amazon have always been awesome when ive needed to send something back, through them a call, i bet you will be sorted out at the end of that call

This sounds like good news. I'll just give it a go and see what happens.

dsr is 7 days, not 14 though.

totally unrelated:
I returned a tv after about 10 months use for a full refund. That was because it was faulty and they could neither repair nor replace it. The only thing left to do was refund it :D

Aha! If I click through the process but don't complete it I get this range of options:

That's what I needed to see. I'm not quite ready to send it back yet. I need to veryify it's not me being a spaz first, but I'm pretty sure it's the machine. I've got until November 5th :)
