Yea, B&W got a good outcome there, technically they weren't obligated to give him a cash refund, but they did - which is rather good of them.

As for your case, that is a bad situation - did you get it resolved in the end? The law seems pretty clear cut in terms of DSR. Was your issue that the retailer you were buying from had both an online and physical shop, and you bought it online and wanted to physically return it to the shop?

I ended up just keeping it in the end. I kept meaning to write a letter of complaint to head office and never got around to it.

There issue was "user data had been inputted" So that means anything could be on it bla bla. Of course a format or recovery partition, re image of the HDD was out of the question! This baffled the balloon. (and trading standards)

I will never buy a laptop from them again. Direct from manufacturer next time I think.
