So i havent really played any PC games for a long time, mostly console games but im getting back into it, havent used steam in years either. currently have a laptop atm with my new system due on wednesday.

If i download steam onto this lappy and buy the games i want now I assume i will also be able to then download steam on my new system and they will be there when i log in. just wanting to make sure.

Yes they will. Or just copy the entire steam folder over to the new pc if you don't want to waste time/bandwidth downloading the games again.

Yes thats one of the good things about Steam, you can buy your games on any system and install them to any system, you just can't be logged into steam on more then one PC at a time...

Buy your games now whilst they are having a sale, and you can install them now to your laptop or even wait till your new machine turns up...

yep you can download them as many times on as many machines as you like :)

but better still rather than going to the hassle of re downloading them all just cpy the steam folder you your new pc and install steam, it will re set up all your games in about 10 mins :D

I imagined all digital distribution systems worked like steam, I was quite surprised that Itunes doesn't, only discovered you couldn't redownload after I'd replaced my hard drive (still had the old one).

I travel away quite often and love the way that I no longer after think about what games I have to pack, steam lets me get what i want.

AFAIK you can, you just have to authorise your new computer to use your iTunes account. At least that worked for me when I got a new PC. But agree that the way Steam works is by far the best way.
