I'd imagine transactions on-line will have a record that can be accessed from a central database in store. Other retailers have similar systems.
They're not out of order to require some proof of purchase - they can insist upon it - and rightly so. Also, it doesn't have to be a receipt - it can be a bank statement or to (ideally) find the transaction in their system using your name and address details.
Chances are they'll see that the transaction was a bundle and you won't be refunded the individual amount.
