Reusing vegetable oil

Drippings smells even more, but darn it's good.
Veg oil is cheap and easy.

Other oils are not as high temp as veg oil.
Coconut oil I've only discovered recently, can't say I've tried deep frying in it.

Nut oil is so expensive :(

Olive oil?

Yep that would have to do, it's lovely cold in dressings/dips but goes a bit rank heated imo, but the poor old nut allergic vegan has to eat something so olive oil to the rescue!

Just out of interest, does anyone know a nut allergic vegan?:p

Lol, no :p

However I've cooked a group meal that has people with nut allergies and also people who are vegans before. Nut allergy sufferers can often react to the oil 'fumes' simply being in the air or if you mix spoons/etc, so you do actually have to be more careful than simply using different pans for the different oils.

Crikey! Sounds very tricky (you'll have to make it a 'bring your own gas mask do':p) Tbh though, I don't envy anyone with food allergies of any description, but especially those with nut allergies, which I believe can cause extreme reactions if nuts are mistakenly ingested (even death:eek:), it must be a heavy burden to bear. Good luck with the cook up anyway.:)

Reusing oil is fine its just the more you fry in it the worse the oil is for you as it all seeps into the oil and then back into your food so the more you use it the more the bad stuff builds up

I don't understand why people cook with it or use it at all, it smells foul and tastes even worse, and when heated even on very low heat is easily damaged/denatured. Animal fats, butter or most preferably coconut oil are the best oils to cook with.

A neighbour regularly uses veg oil for frying/deep frying, on the rare occasion I've entered their place the veg oil smell is overpowering to the point of making me feel nauseous. To me it has an artificial, rancid type odour, due to its volatility I wouldn't be surprised if the stuff is rancid when still on the shop shelf.

Couldn't agree more.
