Hi all

I was made redundant back in December 2015, haven't worked since then as I've been busy renovating the house which has kept me out of trouble up until now.. but it's time to re-join the real world as such

I'm currently searching for a new role, but I'm starting to wonder if my CV is actually any good as it's been a while since I've done this

Ideally I need someone else to take a look (preferably someone who has recruited for a 2nd/3rd line support role) & give me any pointers, suggestions etc..

Link to CV below (I've removed some details e.g. Personal details, company names etc..)

Many Thanks

Dave

I think it is a pretty decent CV overall in terms of layout etc, and you have a good range of experience across hardware, software, networking, projects, BAU etc. Few points:

-Keep an eye on your use of apostrophes as seem overused in places e.g. "desktop's"
-For SQL Server Admin I would remove the version numbers as you haven't worked with 2008/12/14/16 so do not appear fully up to speed on the latest technology
-Maybe rename the "Company closure" heading into something a bit less alarming (something focussing on the decommissioning/migration)
-Reading the work experience you have experience with some popular methodologies/frameworks like ITIL, PRINCE, SCRUM etc, I would consider putting these into the Expertise section as well so the buzzwords stand out during initial sift. I know it isn't strictly 'technical' expertise but worth summarising somewhere I feel.
-Likewise no mention of Sharepoint in Technical Expertise
-If your GCSE results were any good I would consider replacing the list of subjects with something like "9 GCSEs at Grades A*-C including English and Mathematics". Where qualifications are concerned if the person doesn't even summarise the grades I always assume the worst. Obviously if you have mediocre results then you've done the right thing not to mention them.

My expectation based on that CV is that assuming you are flexible on travel, have reasonable salary/rate expectations and interview adequately that you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a job.
