Review- The Godfather *warning: long!"

Well today is the day I will watch the first part of the trilogy, in between drinking Lemsip and blowing my nose (I'm off work with severe man flu).

The last gangster film I watched was Once Upon a Time in America, and I really enjoyed it.

Hopefully pt. 1 of the trilogy delivers...

I watched Pt. 2 later on aswell. By crikey, what an epic pair of films. I'll try to fit in pt. 3 soon aswell. Hopefully it's not quite so disappointing as a lot of people seem to say. I'll find out soon.
 
I've just finished reading the book, I started it last week after watching 1 & 2 again.

As usual, the book is way better than the films. The book covers the whole of the story from films 1 & 2 but fills in way more of the background of some of the charactors, for example Luca Brasi, Jonny Fontane, the girl Sonny is banging at the wedding at the start of Godfather 1, the various other Dons, the history back in Sicily. If you like, each film shows about half of the story in the book.

It's well worth a read if you like the movies. As I said though, the book covers movies 1 and 2, I have no idea what's in the 3rd movie as I've never watched it, and it's not part of the book.

Vincent is Sonny's son, with that girl he's banging at the beginning of the first one
