How would i go about reviewing products for companies?

is it just as easy as emailing them and asking to review a certain item?

Contact them through the press lines, that's what we do for our website.

no, not as a profession lol

just something that i could do in my spare time and post them up here as i see that there is now a reviews section on the new site/shop.

so if i send the sales or HR department an email asking if they want/need new items reviewed then?

what exactly would i say, i cant really just say hi give me items to review, thanks.

would they require information such as if i had done other reviews so that they could sample my work?

You usually have to have a website or a reason, they won't just give you things, took us a while to get big things sent to us for review you need a few other things behind you.

hmmm I don't think saying "I'm on XYZ forum" will get you things.

Other things behind you as in other reviews, shows that you have had stuff before, or can be trusted.

You will usually be asked to sign an agreement with credit card on big things (I know I did when they sent out the Intel Mac Minis and iMacs and such when they first came out.) to make sure you don't run off with them.

how exactly did you go about contacting and informing companies on what you wanted to do? obviously you would contact PR/HR.. but did you actually ask to review specific items or did you ask if they had anything they wanted reviewed?

im not really wanting to review full systems, more general hardware, GPU's Motherboards, soundcards mice, keyboards etc...

To begin with we got whatever we could, then we just emailed companies about new things as they came out, so we got to the point of just asking for the stuff we wanted.

Start out small, write quality reviews, submit them to www.digg.com and show your enthusiasm.

We did this and now we get companies returning to us asking to be reviewed.

Do you have to send the stuff back when you're done with it? Sounds like a great way of getting free stuff :D

Not always, a lot of the smaller stuff we get to keep, i've had a couple of MP3 players (20GB ones), Cases, Headphones, Speaker Docks etc.
