Hey

My Ford Ka started... not revving cleanly through the gears today. As in, it's not jerky, but I can feel it struggling as if some part of the gearbox/drive train is slipping and then catching up again. Only lasts a second, but it happens in near enough all gears at all speeds, just every so often.

It's hard to explain. Any ideas what could be up with it?

Clutch slip? Would fit with the hot weather as thats when they can go. Try driving up a hill at 30mph then floor it in 5th gear. Watch the revs. If they redline whilst you aren't really accelerating very fast, that's bad clutch slip. If they slip a bit, it's on it's way out...etc.

and if it is slipping, high revs won't improve the situation. To eek it out till you get it sorted you'll need to not be going with high revs as the clutch slip will become worse the higher the revs go so keep em low, no fast getaways etc.

Replacing is the only fix. Saying that I ran a car into the ground with bad clutch slip for months just managing the way I drove it. Also improved slightly in colder weather.
