Rewinding/replaying dreams to get alternate outcomes

You pretty much described the plot to the film Source Code

Plot:
Colter Stevens, a US Army helicopter pilot whose last memory is flying in Afghanistan, wakes up on a commuter train. However, he discovers that he has assumed the identity of another man. 8 minutes later, the train explodes and Stevens finds himself in some kind of pod. He then talks to someone named Goodwin, who tells him he has to go back and find out who the bomber is. He is sent back to go through the whole thing again and attempts to find who the bomber is but fails. The bomb goes off and Stevens finds himself in the pod again. He is sent back another time, yet still cannot find out anything. When he returns, he asks what is going on. Goodwin and Rutledge, the scientist in charge, tell him that he is part of a project that can put someone in another person's consciousness during the last 8 minutes of their life. Stevens then asks why he cannot just stop the bomb. He is told that he is not going back in time but placed in the moment so he can find out who the bomber is and if there are any other targets. On the side, Stevens finds himself falling for the woman traveling with him while he is still in the other man's consciousness

Lucid dreaming, where you know you're dreaming and can control the dream. Many people cannot do this. Enjoy, it can prove very fun :)

It happened to me once when i was about 12, i was reversing and forwarding time at will like a VHS tape and when i realised what power i had. I looked out of the windows to see a hot woman walking past, with just a thought she changed direction and walked into my house, up to me, then started to strip :D i managed to get her down to her bra before i woke up, damn!!

Rubbish film

First time I've heard something liking that, interesting.

Ah Source Code will have to watch that again good movie

I find that if I go to bed, close my eyes and start day dreaming I tend to be able to control the start of a dream that then takes hold. Because next thing I know I have awoken after some mental dream that started with w.e I started with.

Love doing that

Use to get this all the time when younger. Some dreams repeated themself for years and years and some where quite disturbing. Thankfully seem to have grown out of such dreams, sleep paralysis etc.

One that lasted years was being a red coat on horse back, and didn't matter how the dream played out, I always ended up getting chased and shot by a musketeer.

Another was a kind of apocalyptic. We had been invaded by some super power and we had to fight gorilla warfare style(despite being about 8), always ended up being caught, tied to a post, bit of torturing then a grenade thrown in the lap as they walked away.

One of the repeating sleep paralysis was waking up to a room full if snakes, and another to some aliens injecting my stomach, not being able to do anything.

All these happened around the same time for years. Once I hit ~15 such dreams weren't so bad, but still got sleep paralysis with hallucinations till early 20s.

How I'm not in a mental home I don't know.

If I ever have kids they will be seeing documentarys about sleep paralysis, that would have been such a help. Hoe you being that subject up though, and at such a young age.

I have been able to lucid dream before, took a bit of practise studying your own dream behaviour and what happens in them, spotting markers to tell yourself your in a dream and then take control of it

Only managed it a few times though.

Fascinating stuff! So the dream itself takes off from where the daydream left? I daydream a lot, usually sci-fi stuff, driving spaceships etc. I'll occasionally get a dream that is similar to the daydream, but never connected together on the same night, let alone invoke it myself.

Thanks for the responses everyone - some good stories here. Keep 'em coming :-)
