have been comparing the new engine to the one we used on the gumball, now as i'm sure porkie will testify the gumball engine was a monster which loved to rev and had no problems keeping up with the enzo but the new engine is mucho better. Looking at some figures it mostly makes the old engines power at 1000rpm less and using 4psi less boost. here's some examples of how much more torque and hp extra it makes at how much less boost...

should make for an interesting drive :DD:

electric PAS lines & fuel lines put through bulkhead. master cylinder piping started

They cut the bulkhead out of the old reyland escort and welded it in or did i read (also going by the pictures of the old one cut up) that wrong?

This looks to be very much a 'no expence will be spared' project....

Its good to see just how much effort and passion is going into this :)

Ish - are they going to be running the same sort of engine setup as before (600 ish bhp iirc)

600 bhp won't get Martin his cossie records back so more power was needed!!

Glad to have you back. And thanks for an amazing thread!

cheers. i decided to ignore what i don't like on the forums!

Out of interest what happened to the chaps in the accident, have they made a full recovery?

martin (driver) got out pretty much unhurt and Lee who has over 100 stiches also made a full recovery

HO-LY MOTHER OF ****!

That thing is insane! I want it soooo badly.

Any news on them entering this into this years Gumball?

gumball entry prices have gone up by a silly amount so i can't see the escort doing the gumball again

if you think that's bad, bear in mind that the 7 speed motorsport 'box retails at £22.5k if my memory serves me correctly.

you don't belong in there TRAITOR.
you bought a recylced Messerschmidt ;)

I'D HIT IT!!!

@Ish...the standard of workmanship Martin is capable of just blows me away.
and i don't impress that easy.

out of curiosity, could you tell me what's the most extreme road car spec Cosworth he's done?

are you on about the FFD box?

the most extreme road legal cossie would be this one one unless you mean road car spec ie.full interior etc??

i also forgot to add no nitrous was used for the power figures on this engine.

fronts rims are 9x18 with 235 40 tyres -brakes... 380mm brembo 8 pots
rearrims are 10x18 with 265 35 tyres -brakes... 330mm brembo 8 pots

@Ish....sorry mate i didn't phrase my question properly, what i meant was what was the most extreme Cossie that Martin has done for a customer...purely for Road use.

a customer's road car can only be as extreme as the customer is willing to pay for. I think the most extreme road car spec so far has been an escort cossie which he did a approx 550bhp engine for which had full leather interior etc.. The most extreme customer's car would be Renton & Porkies 600+ bhp 3 door track car.

please tell me martin has called top gear and asked for a go round the track, iirc clarkson is a bit of a cossie nut, so im sure he'd let you outdrag some supercars when tis built for muchos fun

Martin already tried to get on Top Gear with the last Reyland Escort but they didn't want to know. Maybe Clarkson still hasn't got over the fact that when he was filming a feature for one of his videos which included an Aston Martin & Ferrari Martin turned up in his cossie powered mondeo and destroyed both cars in a head to head race :D. It's a shame the race never made it onto the video

closer to real bhp (ie not complete bs) doesnt make me moist tho, its an escort lol

not sure what you are getting at but the power figures are 100% correct

WOW, such a hugely impressive car. How much does the thing weigh? Can't be much more than around 1200kg?

Ridiculous amount and power, and to think there is more to come :D

The stress on the con rods must be pretty extreme considering the power and rpm given that they are nearly an inch longer?

Can't wait to see it finished, complete beast.

not sure on the weight but the transmission weighs a fair bit.

the longer rods combined with the taller block are part of making this the most reliable Reyland big bhp engine so far ;)

:D but still incredible nonetheless.

it doesn't say how much bigger than 2200cc!!!

Ish can you clarify something for me?
do you work for Martin?

in case you missed my earlier point and thought i was rubbishing the power claims,i'll point you in the direction of the post i was addressing.

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=6166198&postcount=87

sorry but i have to say something nice about that Escort in every one of my posts.....it's just astonishinlgy desireable.

I don't work for Martin but have been good mates with him for years.

I havn't been on OCUK for a while which is why I hadn't seen the other post you linked to etc

Finally it's on all 4 wheels!! Minus some graphics this is how the finished car will look externally!

Next job is all the shiny alloy bits

I wasn't keen on the new colours at first as well but now i love them. The pics do not do any justice to how bright the colours look in the flesh.

Ish - you may be right about clarkson. I'm sure i'm not the only one who'd like to see the Reyland Cossie do a lap of the track, and challenge a few supposed supercars ;)

Perhaps a mass email of TG could get their attention :)

a mass email was exactly what was done last time and they still showed no interest :(

The_Dark_Side said:
still can't abide them...but i understand why they need to be as eye-catching as possible.
if you can remember it,i LOVED the black photoshopped pic in the last thread about this car.
btw while i've got you,can you give an indication of price and durability of this engine?

The black photoshop would have been a reality by now(the shell etc was purchased) but the guy decided to not proceed with the project. He even started a website but since the project is no more neither is the updates of his website http://www.wrcescort.co.uk/

price is TBA once Martin works out all the details. As for reliability this should be the most durable big bhp engine Martin has ever done to date!

some pics of pro-alloys work on the car

the intercoolers is only 100mm deep!!!

more pics to come soon
