it got damaged at a track day years ago and sat at the back of the workshop ever since gathering dust

here it is giving clarkson a beating

the aerodynamic shape should mean it hits a good top speed this time!

i remember reading about that amazing slipper mobile years ago, a pretty fantastic creation.

any idea on the history of the car since those articles?

history was that the 500 bhp engine was sold to a guy from scotland and replaced with a baby 330 bhp engine and then it got damaged at a track day and it wasn't touched again until last week

proven bench dyno'd power was slightly over 500 bhp...507 or something like that

real shame for that to happen to a car with such history. is it going back to the previous spec or is it going to be a whole new project?

afaik it's going to have an old school t4 turbo, 8 inj 500 bhp engine in it and just used for some fun. It's not going to be anywhere near the spec of the escort.

It should do some ok times i think as mondeos are supposed to be pretty aerodynamic

He isn't being daft, whilst they weren't banned (i don't think), they have been penalised heavily by their entrance fee being dramatically increased.

At least thats IIRC.

that was a mates mk1. the car looks the same as when i last posted pics of it. he has done some track days etc since then and went on the rollers. i posted the graph on here

as for the gumball the entrance costs are horrendous now so i doubt they would do it gain BUT they havn't been banned from it nor have they had their entrance fees increased. penski & paradigm you need to get more reliable sources for your information!!

Theres always the Cannonball 8000 (which has just been to Prague), much much cheaper on the entry fee and doesnt seem to be so "hardcore" if you know what I mean.

Still, car is looking awesome - as always from Reyland!!
