Hi there,

TV Questions coming up:

I have a friend who needs some cables:

Can you get such a cable that converts a standard RF cable to scart?

Also, whats cheapest place for these kinda things? Hopefully wont include competitors, since ocuk don't do many cables.
 
What is it that you are actually trying to do? This seems like a very bizarre request.

Signals on a coaxial cable such as that which you are describing are modulated on a UHF radio band. They can only be viewed using a UHF tuner. To convert a signal present on an RF feed you need a device with a tuner, which is also equiped with an AV interface....the cheapest bit of kit i can think of would be a VCR.

It's because my friend has a sky extension that runs down an RF cable.. He also wants Terestrial TV that also runs down an RF cable, most TVs only come with 1 RF input. So he needs 2 inputs, but only 1 socket. Any suggestions then? He doesn't want a VCR or anything like that, mainly because we just took away the VCR/DVD player since he doesn't use them for anything and wants a more tidy option.

Would like to hear what you guys think!
 
The normal way would be to put the terrestrial TV signal into the Sky box, then the extension that comes from the Sky box to his room will carry Sky and also the terrestrial TV down the one cable.

If you can't do this (get terrestrial into the Sky box) then you can always combine the two signals in his room using a two way splitter, but be careful because you might have problems with channels clashing.

The DIY way to find a clear channel is to try em one by one until the Sky looks nice and clear.

As carpmaster says, they can share a cable. You can choose the RF channel that the sky box outputs on using the installed menu (servies, 4, 0, 1, select) to avoid clashes with existing channels on the RF cable :)
