Hi,

Basically I have a projector which takes input from either composite or s-video, and various things which only output RF (old consoles etc). Is there a device which will demodulate the RF into composite?

Thanks

Electronic component stores sell them but I imagine you could get either a knckered VCR (aslong as the tuner and output work) for free or probably have one already.

I am looking for something similar but i want composite to RF and also don't want to go the vcr route for different reasons. If you do find a converter box please post back,i will also if i find one. :)

You need an RF modulator.

I have a feeling that there is a possibility of needing a TV licence for an RF-composite box, as it still has a tuner in, which I think is what the licence actually covers.
For god's sake.

You need a TV license for watching TV. You don't need one for owning a TV, you don't need one for owning a VCR and you certainly don't need one for owning an RF modulator.

You need a licence for owning a device capable of getting a tv signal - a m8 of mine had his tuner removed and a letter sent to the licence people specifically to cover himself as he doesnt watch tv but owns a tv.

Do I need a licence?

If you use a TV or any other device to receive or record TV programmes (for example, a VCR, set-top box, DVD recorder or PC with a broadcast card) - you need a TV Licence. You are required by law to have one.

It's only if you USE the device to receive a TV programme, you can do whatever else you want without a licence.

As above. This is simply not true.

This isnt my opinion, this is what he was told by the tv licencing people - going back a few years but basically he had to have it detuned and then send a letter from the place that did it confirming the tv was unable to get a tv signal.

Maybe it has changed but he had a van bloke asking why he had no licence and when he said he doesnt watch tv they said it matters not as its tha capability to do it.

You also now have to capture an address when you sell a tv tuner for a pc in a shop and this is passed onto the licencing people - i asusme for the same reason.

It's never been the case - but TV Licensing like using tactics like that, i'm sure. The law states a license is needed for watching tv, and that's all. Al you should have to do if they are really bothered is show that it's not connected to an aerial.

Giving them your address is just another way of knowing who to target with their threatening letters - after all, you couldn't possibly *not* be watching tv...

Lots of useful information on www.tvlicensing.biz
