If your new to rFactor and public servers are getting you down with wreckers then check out the championships at rfactorcentral they normally run for 2 weeks just download the cars and tracks, register at the site and put your rFactor username in and away you go, some great racing to be had and its well moderated, and you can come and go as you please

would really like to give this a go myself, but one thing that confuses me are all the mods, and how they fit into online racing. I would have thought that to join a race, you would need to have the exact same mods installed as everyone else - is this the case, and how is it all organised?.

Yes, that's exactly it. When you see the list of races to join, you just have to make sure you have that mod installed before you join.

TBH rFactor and its mods and tracks can be a pain, but if you use rfactorcentral then your normally ok for most things and all the latest versions
