Rice cooker?

I was looking at this exact model earlier. Interesting that it's quite versatile and can also be used as a slow cooker. I mentioned a rice cooker to my wife earlier and she's quite keen on trying I out once we move somewhere with a bigger kitchen.

That's the one i got but its the same price from Argos, it doesn't burn the rice like my old cheap Cookworks 10 quid one did. Brown rice takes 90 mins though and white about 60 mins. I just cant warrant 200 for the Jap ones i would need to test one of them to see hoe much better it was first. Its as easy to clean an anything its just a large non stick bowl which wipes clean, the overall unit is quite big so you need a big cupboard to store it, its much bigger then the cheap small rice cookers.

I'm not sure how anyone could possibly call it difficult to clean. You place the rice and water into a non-stick coated bowl that goes into the machine. The rice doesn't stick to the bowl and easily tips out when cooked. A quick rinse and wipe of the bowl is then all that is needed.

Really?!

You must be a particularly messy cook. I've had mine a couple of years and other than cleaning the bowl immediately after using it I'm not conscious of ever having to clean anything else, perhaps the occasional wipe over, and it's pretty much spotless!

I think this would actually be an issue for me too. I do seem to have a habit of testing my my food by splashing it all over the surfaces/tiles whilst I cook :/

Aldi are going crazy for asian cuisine on Sunday (ready for the Chinese new year). Woks, food and a 3year warranty rice cooker for £15.

I think that's the same rice cooker we got for Christmas from a friend. It tends to burn the rice slightly, leaving a sheet of "crust" on the bottom of the bowl.

I tried compensating with some more water to combat that, and it just spat it all out the top while boiling. Didn't do that again!

My absolutely filthy rice cooker immediately after use :p

Certainly nothing a quick wipe with a damp cloth won't fix!

I'd have photo'd the bowl too but in the time it took me to get my phone out of my pocket my partner had already cleaned it!

Get the Tefal 8-in-1. I got one for Christmas and it's awesome. On the rice front, it does cook it well. Maybe not as good as a £200 dedicated unit (I wouldn't know) but good enough for me. It's certainly more versatile than a dedicated unit. In a kitchen with limited space, that must be a good thing, surely?

I bought the Tefal 8 in 1 cooker!! Haven't tried it out yet, but I bought it mainly for wife because she constantly burns the rice. I'm on on a low carb diet at the moment so I won't be eating as much rice as I used to, but I'm hoping to use this for it's slow cooking function as well as brown rice cooking :)
