So rice , one of my favorite foods has the highest amount of arsenic in it...

This is in the US but I assume it is the same or similar for any European and Asian rice products..
if pesticides were used when growing it , brown rice has the highest amount of arsenic in it.

le sigh... I really did love rice.

(Thanks for fixing my typo in the threads title mods)

Why would this stop you eating it? If you listen to every scaremongering article you'll quickly find yourself on an accidental hunger strike.

Most poor Chinese families have rice daily and still live to a ripe old age regardless. Its just another news article on a slow news day making a mountain out of a mole hill as usual.

You can apply the same nonsense to nearly every food item on the planet, e.g.

"eating too many banana's will kill you due to potassium overload!"

What they never factor in is that your liver can get rid of pretty much any toxin as long as its in a SMALL AMOUNT, hence their reference to the teapot with spoonfuls of arsenic in it lol. To get that quantity of arsenic from rice, you'd die of fecal impaction waaaay before the arsenic even registered.

You do know that water is toxic? (Seriously).

Another scaremongering news article, surprised it's not the DM to be honest!

The highest levels? That's an utterly meaningless statement. The article says nothing about whether those levels are even dangerous.

So does Apple if i recall.

Around the seeds, many fruit seeds contain cyanide such as peach, cherry and apricot - potentially in harmful amounts. However I remember making apricot jam and the recipe called for a small amount of crushed apricot seeds, but warned not to use more than stated due to health reasons so i don't know how many apricot seeds it would really take to kill you. Probably it is possible physically but it is unlikely that is what someone will do.
