Richard "Lord British" Garriot's Shroud of the Avatar

I've not touched this in a while, I'm surprised there isn't more interest in this. I've heard it's progressing nicely though.

I played a build a while ago and it was pretty bad (to be expected though at such an early stage). They've just done alpha release 13 though and it does look to be coming along nicely. I'll be taking another look when it is further along.

Bit of a bump, but better than making a new thread I guess. Who's playing this? Final wipe in a couple of months I understand.

My brother's been playing quite actively, I've been waiting for final wipe really.

I gave it a go, could not really get into it. Game felt incredibly slow and cumbersome.

As a huge UO fan, I was interested in this...right up until I found out that there isnt an open world. That you dont travel around the world between towns as such, instead you go to an overhead map and a mini character of you moves about and you may or may not have an encounter at which point it returns to a traditional MMO view. All sort of reminded me of those old console RPGs where you move between towns on an overhead map. Put me right off.

I think it's quite a good idea. Travelling by foot from one town to another was never particularly good fun. This cuts down on travel time.

I've not really played it for around 6 months or more (maybe a year), it certainly seems to have come on quite a lot. Not sure about this new targeting system though.

Oh I'm sure for some people its a good idea, but not for me. I have certain tick boxes which must be ticked for me to consider an MMO. Not being able to walk around the world from town to town...thats a BIG NO tickbox to me. Its simply not what I expect from an MMO ( and even less so from something with a connection to the greatest MMO of them all (imo) UO , an MMO where some of the most memorable things to happen to you , happened as you walked from town to town )

Yeah, obviously. I even think I partially agree. At the same time, I think the majority want quicker travel.

For me, UO was no longer the great game I loved when it split to Trammel and Felucia. In this instance, I (well, me and my guild) was in the minority. Being PK'd and losing your gear was part of what made it great. Everyone went to Trammel though and for me it was pretty much the end...

Final wipe happened yesterday. I'm signed up to EVL along with my brother. Anyone else dipping back in, now it's effectively 'live'?

Did that include a house? If so, they've started allocating lots already.
Ahhh yes it did mate

Tax Free Row Deed

2-Story Row House
A 2-story stone Row house to use as your base of operations! Expired Midnight CDT (5:00 UTC) July 27, 2016

I've hardly played it though so I have no clue what/how to do -.- Although not sure why it says expired on July 27? :(

I don't know, but personally I would get on their forums and check what you need to do. Some people in my Guild are already having to wait to late August to place their house. I'm not sure how much of it is when you paid, or when you now ask to join the queue.
