On a scale of 1 to 10, how much of an arse would I be to rick roll my friends at their wedding? I chuckled to myself when I thought of them coming down the aisle to Rick Astley and it would make an awesome youtube video.

I wouldn't actually do such a thing, but for a moment it seemed like a good idea.

Any other really inappropriate times to rick roll?

Wreaking a wedding that cost £1000's and is meant to be a once in a life time event is not just a friendship breaker, it gives them a valid reason to hire a hitman.

Indeed. It was only a random thought as I'm getting suited and booted and got liked to a rick roll video and made the connection. I'm sure there are worse times to do it though.

On a scale of 1 to 10 you'd be a complete pillock but you'd doubtless get big lulz from certain sections of the online community.

Funerals would be another obviously inappropriate time, just after someone has been told bad news etc etc, the opportunities for Rick Rolling to be inappropriate are really only limited by your imagination.

At Download Festival this year people kept texting in with the lyrics then at the end "You've been Rick Rolled" bah, all of my texts didn't get though :( wonder why ;)

In the church itself - mmm as amusing as it could be if you were a complete outsider watching it on youtube it would definitely be going too far.

In the reception however - providing they are very likely to get the joke then it could be quite funny if, after the speeches, when they step up to do the first dance you rick roll them from the DJ both - perhaps only for 20 seconds or so though before switching to the proper song they were going to do the first dance thingie with..... - if the guests have just had best man speeches - plenty of jokes etc.... it could work well as a follow on to it.

ah that is a good idea.. I want rick astley played at my funeral instead of hymns. rickrolled from beyond the grave.

I never understood what's the deal with rick rolling, what's so bad about hearing '' never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down...'' ? It's a good song, what do people see in it ?

Honestly, I'd smack you right in front of everyone if you ruined my partners day by doing this.

However, the DJ she has booked for our night do is rumoured to play a silly song to start with on the first dance, something that I don't want. I am paying this guy enough money not to dick about and to provide the service I want.

I have a sense of humour but when your paying £16-20k for a wedding and spend a year planning it you want it to go just right!

lol would make an awesome video on youtube to see their faces - but you would most certainly lose your friends... relatives... everyone :p

Got married last year. We play in a brass band and they provided the music in the church, we went in to the 'here comes the bride' march and were going out to the Mendelsson march. Band sparked up with the fanfare at the start, sounded amazing and as we set off back up the aisle the broke straight into zippidy do dah. The gits. Then again, we're both band geeks and the wife saw the funny side of it (after few minutes!).

Thats exactly what happened to us.
We got up to dance to Stairwaty To Heaven by Led Zeppelin and on comes D.I.S.C.O. which we both hated.
It was a setup by friends and we took it in good fun.
