Ride Demo now available on Steam to try. The game is due out March 27th according to Steam.

Description:
"Bikes from the world's most beloved motorcycle manufacturers, breathtaking races, and a round-the-world trip taking in 15 different locations, all this and more in the new videogame: RIDE."

The game will apparently feature a lot of customization for each bike and rider. Sounds fun.

So for those who aren't familiar with this game. It's been developed by Milestone S.R.I, who has worked on various motorsport racing games, such as the MotoGP series, World Rally Championship and MXGP The Official Motocross Videogame just to name a few.

This game to me is interesting to the point that I don't follow MotoGP anymore, so haven't bought the latest games. Yet I'd love to do road racing which reminds me a little of Isle of Man TT.

Has anybody played the Demo yet? What are your thoughts? I'm in two minds currently on if I will purchase the full game. I'm sitting more on a yes though.

I'm running the Demo with maxed settings, and with VSync (which is much needed with my monitor), I keep at 60fps.

Couple of screenshots from the Demo:

The game still leaves a lot to be desired. One thing I was thinking while riding around not long ago, is that the wildlife on this track just seems dead. It would be nice to have some birds flying overhead or even flying past some animals

  • Mirrors just don't work. Looks pretty much like they haven't added in reflections of the environment, except for the road. This IMO needs sorting.
  • When you are riding at a fast pace, the motion blur kicks in. But the edges on the mirrors / top of the bike of the bike start to look jagged. I haven't tried with motion blur off yet though.
  • The sound when using the helmet view just seems a little on the weak side.

I don't ride in real life yet, so I don't know how this would feel to those who have.

If you are a fan of bikes, I'd say try the Demo. The worst possibility is you don't enjoy the game. I actually like the game. It does tend to have an arcade style feel with it but I can look past that. It's still enjoyable.

NOTE: Not PC exclusive, also available on other platforms.

Let us know what you think :)

being a biker myself, the game looks interesting as theres such a lack of decent biking games, but those screenshots make it look god awful. Particularly the 3rd one where the guy on the bike isnt even holding onto the handlebars. Graphics i can overlook if the gameplay holds up but stuff like that puts me off from the start

Ill avoid till this is in absolute bargain basement price

I admit, that's something I failed to notice :D

Don't forget also that this is only the Demo. Yeah I know, too many games release just like the Demo but I have hopes they will improve the game. One thing I've pretty much disliked is the lack of community forum to discuss this stuff with Devs.

There's only a week, so I'm not sure I would hold too much hope :(

First thing I thought when looking at the screenshots is that it looked an awful lot like a Codemasters game with the HUD.

I understand. We haven't been given any good biking games for such a good while though. So hopefully this is something a little different that does take off.

I did a video of a race using the Helmet view so you can get a feel for what it's like. You can see that it does have the arcade style to it, but it doesn't feel completely arcadey.

Why does my video show as a blank white box to me? :(

EDIT: Thanks to Mr.Fantastic for showing me how to fix the issue.

tried the demo ... with all the traction/abs shizzle off.. its okish .. but dosent support my monitor ... and i dunno.. pretty poor really.. wont be buying

I'm not attempting to derail this thread, more so just bring something to the attention of those interested.

As has been stated, this game can't exactly be called a simulator with what it has going. However, I've been on the Steam community forums for this game and a post someone mentioned caught my eye.

GP Bikes - this apparently is a realistic simulator (http://www.gp-bikes.com/). Probably a very small playerbase but, if you can look past the graphics and even none licenced bikes. This could be worth trying the demo they have on the site. I've tried this game and I couldn't even leave the pits... :( I'll try again tonight though.

And back to Ride!

Things I would love changed:

More atmosphere on tracks
Environment reflecting mirrors
Fix motion blur

The game I still do find fun to play so I still may get this when it's released.

I ride so have an interest in this. I will have to try the demo but I think it's worrying when a game approaches with such little fanfare. Call me a miser but I expect poor reviews followed by a rapid reduction in price.

What a miser ! :p

TT Superbikes on the PS2 was the last decent bike game I played. And Tourist Trophy. Please....can someone make a decent bike game on the pc?!

Hi guys, been looking at this game for a while now and so far it looks typical milestone. Been on the demo today and its not to bad, Have others have said the mirrors could do with some love but it seems to run ok in 4k (dsr).

I ride bikes and the handling is not to bad bit arcadey but it is more realistic that super hang-on.
