Ridge Racer 6 - Q

Mine is being posted today so hopefully it will come tomorrow or Saturday.

Can't wait to have some online action :) Hopefully I'll get it at the same time as everyone else so I'm not playing catch up again ;)

Yep looking forward to mine on Saturday (i'm too tight to pay the 99p postage to get it on the day of release :o ) I really enjoyed a couple of RR games on the PS2 but soon lost interest as newer games came along. I'm more picky with my games now so hopefully i'll get more play out of this one.

Got the US version off MM at the beginning of the week, and whilst its a decent game I would only probably give it 6.5 or 7 out of 10.

The sense of speed sometimes is quite poor, the graphics although clean and crisp are very bland, and the cars feel so wooden its unreal.

All of the previous RR games have admittedly been in the same mould, but you get the feeling they could have done so much more in virtually every department.

I do feel somtimes as if I'm not in control of the vehicle. The cornering imo is just way to easy (yes I knows its an arcade racer! :p). But its as if the car is stuck on a pivot and just turns sideways for the corners.

Personally I find the game enjoyable enough not to be criticising it, sense of speed is awesome in the higher classes, it has a better pick up and play value than PGR3 IMO, I didnt expect that was going to be the case either.
Shame the 360s triggers are not more ergonomic as Ive had a numb fore finger for a couple of weeks now :(

To me its a tongue in cheek racing game, an out and out arcade racer, the cars look great, but the environments do tend to look a bit dull for some reason, Im sure the game isnt as polished as Namco would have liked, so alreay looking forward to RR7 :)

Although Ridge Racer is intentionally unrealistic, car physics can behave that way, as an example if you do a donut in real life in a car or on bike, the physics involved do make the vehicle feel like its on a pivot, a perfect circle is down to physics not driver skill.

Just done the first 8 races and love it :), Accept for one thing and its the same thing PGR3 suffers from. It's just too dark :(

I'm playing on a standered but good quality 32" WS TV using Scart RGB but i'm finding 360 racing games almost un-playable and there's nothing i can do and no gamma controll in the games either.

Really ****** Off :(

I'm not sure that's a problem with the 360 to be honest... I play PGR3 on a normal 26" TV and it isn't too dark at all, in fact it's quite bright...

I'll let you know how I get on with RR6 when it comes tomorrow.

None of the RR series have ever had reverse its because its a time out game based on arcades with checkpoints if you dont make the checkpoint in time GAME OVER

Not everyone will like this game but to be honest RR is not trying to be a real racer its just trying to be fun and this it does very well

Anyone who has ever like a RR game should get this as its one of if not the best in the series

I played all the Ridge (and Rage) games upto Type 4 on the PSone, and loved them, but I just cant help feeling they should have moved the series on more that they have done, RR6 just leaves me feeling unispired and the game itself now feels outdated.

Still, I'm going to persevere and get as many achievements as possible seeing as I've paid for it :p

I had a couple of races this morning before going to work, going to give it a battering tonight. It does seem a typcal RR game, zero realism etc. But that's why I like it. It's a nice pick up and play game.

Gonna be up for some online action over the next few days. GT is Oli Owl :)

I've really enjoyed playing RR6 since I got the US version a while back. Playing it on the 360 reminded me of the feeling I had playing RR on the original Playstation years ago, and that's been a really good thing.

I'm slowly working through it.
