Assuming that will translate to £399.

Oculus Go standalone headset also being released next year for $199 and shares software parity with GearVR.

Yeah I read, shame it didn't work out for you. Great that you didn't lose out though.
Yeh, I just think it needs fuller experiences and I want it to be wireless and have better clarity.
Having said that, part of the reasons I sold it was that I am in the middle of buying a house. So I may miss it and decide to buy it again later lol. But only if I found a way to suspend the main cable so it wasn't in the way.

Just checked their website it's £399

So the Rift has a resolution of 2160x1200, The new Oculus Go has a resolution of 2560x1440 yet the Rift costs twice as much, Am I missing something here ?

It's basically an all in one, deluxe Gear VR with things like touch controllers, not a PC based HMD.

I got that but if the Oculus Go has a better screen and the Touch controllers only cost £100 then why does the Rift still cost £400 ? That's what I don't get if the Oculus Go is visually the better product.

Might be higher resolution but not as immersive, graphics can’t be anywhere near the Rift. Hope I’m wrong.

Well unless they can fit at the very least an XB1X type of chip into the headset I'm guessing it will be mainly for VR videos, Small'ish simple games etc.... which come to think of it answers my original question, Yay for blonde moments :D

Exactly, getting a 1080Ti in there would be a bonus ;)

Hope the Rift 2 has better adjustments and loses the divers mask feeling.

I sold my vive and rift a long time ago and by now i would have thought they would have done a 2.0 by now but sadly nothing

I don't know about HTC, but Oculus always said, no new hardware in 2017 as they want to concentrate on bringing the price down and getting content out. Both of which I am happy about.
The quality of vr games I have bought this year have definitely stepped it up a notch or two.
Until it has become more mainstream, I like that oculus have kept it simple.

The Oculus Go is only 3 degrees of Freedom not 6 like the Rift. So you can look up, down, left, right and roll your head but you can't crouch down, step closer or step back. Similar constraints to the controller too (I think). On balance I'd say it is a really positive product for the VR scene and hopefully will serve as a stepping stone to the fuller featured VR experiences by other hardware.
