Rift getting permanent price drop to $399

The Oculus Go is only 3 degrees of Freedom not 6 like the Rift. So you can look up, down, left, right and roll your head but you can't crouch down, step closer or step back. Similar constraints to the controller too (I think). On balance I'd say it is a really positive product for the VR scene and hopefully will serve as a stepping stone to the fuller featured VR experiences by other hardware.

so its a porn viewer then basically

Yeh I reckon £349 as well. I just sold mine and I'm getting antsy but I really should hold out for the next version like I planned.

Yeah I've seen it and while in theory it's a good idea I would much rather have a hard line connection to my GPU+CPU :p

If Oculus or Vive Gen 2 HMDs do have wireless connections (I really believe they will) I cannot see them being badly implemented as that would be a disaster for either company, especially if they are due out end of 2018/Early 2019. That gives them quite a bit of time to nail it and that is what they must do. A half-assed implementation is a no-no. If Gen 2 HMDs come out with cables then it will probably mean that wireless is just not up to it at the moment. I know TPCast is supposed to be really good (Does anyone have one and if so how good/bad is it?) but Gen 2 will probably be upping the RES too, so needs bigger bandwidth.

Never been keen on wireless, I know it's archaic but I hope they have a wired version of the CV2 whenever that comes out.
