Regarding Aion and popularity of other MMO games in Asia, afaik, you don't even have to purchase them games - you just buy timecards that allow you for playing for a limited time or pay for the time you spend in game on regular basis (not sure how that works exactly). That's what the Asian payment system for MMOs is based on and that's why it's hard to estimate the number of "subscribers" as we do here in Europe or NA.


On the note of Rift, it may be a good game, but the deal is certainly not anything special. It has came up at this price 3 or 4 times in the past couple of months and has probably been on sale for even lower than that.

I prefer WoW for now, at least until SWTOR is out but each to their own. :)

I've been playing Rift for the whole 6 months now and I regularly check the Rift site. Not once have they discounted the game before however they have done offers on subscription fees which you may be getting confused with.

As for WoW it was a good game but the community have vile social skills and they treat wow like crack cocaine. As for SWTOR I've already payed for the game I but I'm not looking that forward to the game anymore as I've watched a lot of videos etc and they're looking to make the game just like WOW. There isn't even a death penalty. You die and you can just reserect where you are everytime with no penalty.

SWTOR is the start of a new generation of easy mode. I'll play it for a few weeks no doubt. But I feel Rift is the stronger game. but each to their own. :)

It was in the steam summer sale at $10...

I also kept getting emails from Trion in may advertising it for $4.99

Dollars? You American or something? Perhaps they were advertising it for Americans at that price then. Because I also use steam an also lot and I've not seen it on there.
 
Im currently running a lvl 36, warlock,necromancer on argent, about an even split between the 2, 21 in necro and 23 in warlock, rest in dominator 3 lvl in the squirrel transforg.
Though it was a bit disappointing to find that there wasnt a free month with the rift offer.

There is absolutely no difference between the US and UK clients AFAIK, in any case it was on for £12.49 throughout the whole sale and for £7.49 daily deal on Day 7.
