The usual question I suppose, Nephew wants a PC, I am out of touch since my last builds.
I will build the PC for him but what can I get for £500?

He has an old monitor for now, he can also have my 19" iiyama crt while he saves for a TFT.
He also has a keyboard and mouse, so this is about a case and the internals really.

This PC will be for gaming so needs something with min 2gb and decent gfx card.

Any feedback gratefully received.

Thanks

If the overclocking is a simple process and does not involve noisy cooling/fans.
His mother is in the next bedroom so he already has to shut off 11pm at night as the current one has 6 case fans cooling an old amd down :)

nice looking spec, will the 256mb gfx be a little limiting though?
I guess if so he needs to compromise somewhere and a gfx card could always be updated later when he gets some cash from part time work.

He is 18, currently plays WOW on an old PC that dies when entering a city area.

He also uses for college work although that is not taxing anything.
He would like to be able to play new mmorpg coming soon like age of conan etc

Ok here you go:

If your looking into overclocking go for a Intel system. How ever this sytem should do everything your Nephew wants.

The AMD 4200+ is by no means slow and will be fine. You also get a nice 8800GTS in their.
