Hi Guys,

My School is doing a production of Fame next week and we're getting a lot of sound equipment in (Yamaha M7CL-ES, L Acoustics PA etc). to connect the mixer to stage boxes, you have to use a standard cat5e cable, and the easiest way to rig these would be along the lighting bars... Initially I thought it would be fine, i know that you shouldnt run audio cables parrallel to power lines, but then I thought could the data cables pick up interference from running along a metal bar that has ~15 15amp cables running through it?

So will I be ok to run networking along these or not? I'm going to go with no... but just would like confirmation as it will significantly reduce our rig time if we can :) taaaa :)

Can't say i've ever had issues but that was using cobranet rather than ethersound. But as long as you use shielded decent cable it'll be fine, just keep lengths to the recommendations.

If possible you should always avoid running audio/network cables along IWBs. Essentially I don't think you'll have a problem though. I never had. Not sure if you already have a network infrastructure in your theatre, but if there is, patching through that would be a lot easier.

cheers, yeh surely ethersound and cobranet should be fairly similar?

nope we don't have any network infrastructure at all. :/
