Hope someone can help as ive googled all over for this problem..
Double clicking my back up drive now doesnt open it..when i right click the top option is" INSTALL OR RUN PROGRAM FROM YOUR MEDIA".
How can i get rid of this option and make it just open again? :(

windows 7 home premium.I know i havnt created anything.. :(

no but something else might of. have a look in the root directory and see if there is anything unusual.
i know some of my pen drives an autorun file was created by something so it didnt work with double click, but right click and explore was fine.

How and where do i look at that? You meen just look on the drive for any new suspicious file?
All i have on it is folders for games music fils and pics as its my 2nd drive

only folders? no files on the root (the first thing you see when you go to *: from my computer)? try going to folder options and turn on hidden files and dont hide windows/system files.

just made all hidden files visable and all else thats there is " System volume info" that i cant access and a " $recycle bin" thats empty.. :(

thats odd then, if there are no other files like autorun. im assuming its an internal drive and not a usb drive?
if so, in command prompt do a:
chkdsk /r *:

*being the drive letter.
see if that sorts it.

Yeah its internal 1TB drive :E
will need to check these ideas and come back later..missus getting ****ed at me now!

Seem to have fixed it atm. Got suspicious that this all started after installing Tune Up Utilities 2011. Told it to undo all changes and rebooted and the drives context munu is back to normal. Is this software notoriously crap or is it worth keeping? How do i stop it from making that 1 change?

tuneup software on the whole is BAD. its better to ask whats needed and manually disable it, you never know what the programs are doing behind the scenes.

Well just uninstalled it through control panel so hope thats the end of it.Was nothing wrong with PC before i installed it but you always curious about how much more you can squeeze out of start up/shutdown times and programs starting and the like.
Gonna just stick to AVG,Ccleaner,Spybot and registry mechanic in future!
Gonna have a hunt through registry and check for any traces of it .

Method 1 for MAC users with TuneUp installations older than 1.5 (TuneUp only)

1.The uninstaller on your Mac is located under: Home Folder – Library – Logs – TuneUp Uninstaller. Click the icon to launch it.
2.Answer Yes to popup windows.

Method 2 for MAC users with TuneUp installations 1.5 and newer (TuneUp only)

1.The uninstaller on your Mac is located under: Home Folder – Library – Application Support – TuneUp_Uninstaller. Click the icon to launch it.
2.If you cannot find the patch or the patch doesn’t exist, try this other one: /Users/ Your_User_name/Library/ Application Support/ Tuneup_Support. Click the icon to launch it.
3.Answer Yes to popup windows.

Method 3 for Windows users. Remove it via DOS (TuneUp and TuneUp Utilities)

1.Click Start.
2.In the Search field (Windows 7) or Run…(Windows Vista) type cmd and press Enter.
3.On the black DOS window, type: cd C:\Program Files\utilities\TuneUp. The whole trick here is to know the exact folder where the software is installed. So, if you do not know it, you should click Start – Computer and browse among your Computer folders looking for such it.
4.Type unwise install.log and press Enter. This should start an automatic uninstallation procedure.

Method 4 for Windows users. Delete key by key and file by file (TuneUp and TuneUp Utilities)
1.Click Start.
2.In the Search field or Run.. type regedit and press Enter.
3.Locate this Windows registry folder on the left pane: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\ Uninstall
4.On the right pane, locate the registry key which contains “TuneUp”.
5. look for the key UninstallString. Such a key points to the uninstallator. The log file is located on the same folder where the software resides.
6.Delete the key containing “TuneUp”.
7.Now, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software. On such registry folders you should look for any subfolders containing the word “TuneUp” or the name of the company that produce the software (in our case the software compnay is called TuneUpMedia). Delete such registry subfolders containing TuneUp and TuneUpMedia
8.Exit Windows Registry.
9.Now go to Computer (Windows Explorer) and go to the folder where the software is installed.
10.Look for uninstall.log or setup.log or a file with .log extension.
11.Right-click it and open it with your Notepad.
12.Such a file contains a list of all files which have been automatically installed during the first installation. Delete them manually to uninstall TuneUp.

Method 5 for Windows users. Uninstall Old TuneUp version by installing newest Versions (TuneUp and TuneUp Utilities)
1.If you are running an old TuneUp version (such as TuneUp 2009) you have to know that suxh a version is buggy! So in order to fix it, you will have to update it with the new one. Go to Tuneup website and install the newest free version.
2.Try to uninstall the software again via Windows Install/Uninstall tool.

not sure if thats any use.
registry mechanic i believe can do some bad stuff too.

Thx a lot para will have a look through that if i get anymore probs with it.
Might sod registry mechanic off as well then.. think ccleaner alone good enough for registry and general cleaning ?

ccleaner is pretty good yeh would recommend that. always make sure you do regular saves of the registry when 'fixing' it though, as problems can occur.
